Here is a genuine. documented. restored. correct block and transmission… factory race ready car! This S/C has all of the original numbers. stamping and the original door tag withuntouched original rivets! And… this car has an exceptional story. Previously owned and driven daily by SC/Rambler registry founder and registrar. Joie Vaughn for almost 20yrs. This is the real deal and very rare car! Excellent show condition! The Red side of the body is all paint. while the top Blue stripe and accents are vinyl as was the case originally. The previous owner who restored the car beginning when he bought it in 2005 from Joie (SC/Rambler registry founder and registrar). documents that all of the sheet metal is original. His description was that the body was in unbelievably good condition. And while not a complete rotisserie restoration. the underside of the car was also stripped down to the metal and painted black. ALL of the suspension is new and refurbished. Every bushing. as well as springs. trunions. bolts. etc…. are all new! Of course all new brakes and shocks as well. The original block for this car is somewhere in the mysterious black hole of original parts. Bought as a roller in 2005. it is however now equipped with a correct 1969 390 acquired from an AMC collector. along with an original T-10 Borg Warner 4 Speed. Flywheel. pressure plate. and Stage 3 clutch are all new. Internally the block has been upgraded with forged pistons. crane cam. oiling system upgrades. and a standard crankshaft. The T-10 is totally rebuilt. The original Corporate 20 Rear End was totally rebuilt as well. and has 4:10 gears. After paint work. all new rubber was put in the car. and the original glass was used as it was in great condition. Also all of the trim and bright work was also in excellent original condition and used to finish the exterior details. The interior is like new! The original seats were recovered using original material acquiredfrom an AMC enthusiast. and includes the actual paper material and patterned headliner. Very unique! Directed by Hurst Performance Research Inc. . theproject followed the simplest hot-rod canon: stuff in the biggest availableV-8. In AMC's case. that was the AMX's 315-hp 390-cid four-barrel. ABorg-Warner four-speed with a Hurst shifter and a 3. 54:1 limited-slip completedthe drivetrain. Heavy-dutyshocks. anti-sway bar. and anti-hop rear links fortified the suspension. E70Xl4Polyglas tires and the AMC's optional heavy-duty brakes with front discs wereincluded. Inside were reclining buckets. Instrumentation was standard Roguewith the exception of a Sun 8000-rpm tachometer strapped to the steeringcolumn. The cardebuted midway through the model year as the AMC SC/Rambler-Hurst; most calledit the Scrambler. Only 1. 12 were built. and they were potent little screamers. But that exterior treatment! No one seemed to like it. A "tri-colorednickelodeon. said Car and Driver. AllSC/Ramblers started as appliance-white hardtops with two-tone mags. racingmirrors. blackout grille and tail panel. Hurst badging. and a real ram-air hoodscoop with an up thrust snout. About 1. 00 Scramblers went full "YankeeDoodle. with broad red body sides. wild hood graphics. and a fat bluedorsal stripe.
