1931 Hupmobile Rumble seat. Dual side mount R/S Coupe. California Car from new and the body shows it. This coupe was brought back from northern Ca. in 2006 as a complete project that was a restoration started in 1973. Previously owned by long time Hupmobile club member in the 1970s and I purchased the car from one of the largest Hupmobile collector worldwide. It was saved and brought back east because of its rust free body and chassis and the history of the car. Clean and clear California title in hand. Previous Ca. history of registrations back to 1962. Upon recieving the car . inspection showed new pistons. nd bearings and oil pump. The engine had been overhauled. frame blasted and painted. rakes. rums and suspension reworked. Then the car sat in storage until early 1990s untill caretaker passed away. The car was more reassembled than restored because I found the original wood floors and many parts and pieces to be good and I wanted to keep the car the way it was. I replaced the roof wood and header and reused the original chicken wire and recovered roof. Again. I found it important to use all the parts that this car was born with and because I was lucky to have 95% of the original car. New wiring . ardware. ires. ubes. hoses. plumbing. Engine runs well. transmission is very loud due to gears having some corrosion but it does shift fine. Huge folder with records and articles from Old hupp heralds and previous owner. Original U2 carb. is working well considering how old and being the up draft design. Obviously the down draft manifold design starting in 32 was a huge improvement. I have another 31 Model S with a 1938 manifold set up which works a bit better. However. his car is very original and with its original S Engine. Radiator was wrapped and stored in a box after being re cored some years ago.
