1965 Mercedes Benz 220SEb Coupe

Finished in highly desirable Alpine white with red leather interior 3 owner car with extensive service history since new Same family ownership for 24 years Desirable 2.2L inline 6 Cylinder Bosch fuel injected engine 4-Speed manual transmission Over $50,000 in restoration and service receipts 1 of only 2,793 units produced in 1965 European specification model

MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present this well documented three owner 1965 Mercedes-Benz 220SEb with over $50,000 in restoration and service receipts. The finish of this dramatic Alpine white coupe defies its age and would be comfortable as a daily driver, weekend driver, or car show participate. This vehicle is 1 of only 2,793 of 220SEb from 1965, (the final year for the model) and spent it’s first 5 years in Germany. Powering this European spec Mercedes is a SOHC six-cylinder engine with a Bosch mechanical fuel injection system and features power front disc brakes, power steering and a rare and desirable manual transmission.

The Mercedes-Benz 220SEb first showed up in the late 1959, was the third of the models to share the identical body style with the others, but was more luxuriously outfitted on the inside.

The fuel injected engine was essentially the same as that of the previous 220SE model, but developed 120 horsepower instead of 115. As in the carbureted engine model, this one had disc brakes on the front fitted from April 1962 and the hydraulic dual braking system available from 1963 on. Production of the sedans got underway in August 1959, and in September 1960 a newly styled coupe became available, but it was not produced until February 1961. The convertible appeared in September 1961. Disc brakes were fitted for the latter ones from the beginning and the same time the dual braking system was available in all three. The body styles of the convertible and coupe were more modern, rear fins were eliminated and the edge slightly rounded and the cars were much more luxuriously equipped. Real leather upholstery was standard as well as a tachometer, were standard equipment of these truly elegant automobiles.

Re-finished in a beautiful Alpine white, the newer professional quality paint job still shows extremely well with only minor imperfections visible upon close inspection. The restored (in 2002) front and rear bumpers have an excellent fit and finish that show well with only minor imperfections on the right side of the front bumper. All trim pieces are present and have a brilliant finish with no dents. The weather stripping is still very pliable with little or no drying, tearing or shrinkage. The highly desirable European spec headlights and taillights are in very good condition with no hazing or cracks. Paint and body are exceptional with no visible evidence of repair or damage that we could find.

Inside, the gorgeous rich red leather seats all look great with no major signs of wear visible. Carpet also shows well and is in good condition throughout. Overall the genuine wood trim looks great and compliments the crack-free red leather dash. The headliner mirrors the rest of the cabin and completes the theme as do the door panels which show well. The original steering wheel is in very good condition and leather wrapped, power locks, fuel gauge and Pioneer AM/FM radio are inoperable.

This nicely represented Mercedes is equipped with a $11,000 overhauled (at 59,500 miles) 2.2L SOHC cast-iron block m127 inline 6 cylinder engine, 4-speed manual transmission with a overhauled clutch (at 48,958 miles), power steering, power brakes (overhauled at 61,519 miles), air conditioning, front disc brakes, 14 inch original equipment steel wheels with Alpine white matching full Mercedes hub caps. Included with this wonderful car is a extensive historical collection of $34,000 in service records/receipts, $20,000 in restoration records/receipts, parts catalogs, schematics, technical articles and a complete set of original manuals.

Rarely will you get the opportunity to own a Euro white on red, 4 speed Mercedes with this amount of documented service history. Ideal for an everyday driver or weekend get-a-ways, this 220SEb is the way it’s suppose to be…luxurious exterior with the heartbeat of German motorsports…MEIN GOTT!, GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!

Current mileage on the odometer shows 93,248 and is believed to be actual, according to the service records and stamps. It is sold as is on a clean & clear mileage exempt title.
