Listed for sale is a 1937 Hudson Terraplane Utility Coupe model 70. Car was purchased in 1990 by my father, found next to a old farm house in Meridian Idaho. The Utility coupe model 70 was only offered in the Terraplane line in 1937. And was marketed towards the traveling sales man and handyman. The car was in very good shape when purchased, and still has all of it's factory sheet metal. Build started with the installation of a front suspension from a 1982 Pontiac Grand Prix, possie super glide rear leaf springs, a 9 inch ford rear end from a 1969 mach 1, 28 spline axles with a 3.00 gear ratio. Engine and transmission came from a 1970 Buick Electra 225. The 455 Buick was gone through as well as the transmission. Custom made gas tank, 2 1/2 inch duel exhaust, Walker radiator, Painless wiring, Ididit tilt column, Vintage Air heater unit, steel powder coated wheels, wide white wall radial tires, power steering, power disk brakes, custom stainless steel trim on the smooth running boards and CD player/sound system. The coupe has been chopped two inches, and has a very nice profile. The stock split bench seat was used on the interior, and the factory gauges were rebuilt to work with the 455 Buick engine. Dash and garnish rails were painted to match the interior color, as was the slide out pickup bed. Car was then painted in PPG black, base coat/clear coat. The mileage on the speedometer is the total miles on the car from new. The car only has about 3000 miles on it since the rebuild. "The Coupe" As it is called by my father, is a very nice driving car. Having no rattles or wind noise, it is a pleasure to drive. Power from the 455 can be felt from the very start, and shifts smooth through all the gears. Exhaust tone has a slight rumble, and with the insulated body and floors, is barely heard inside the car. Over all this is a very nice driving Street Rod, built on a very rare body style. You would be hard pressed to find another one. I have lots of pictures that can be sent to you as per your request. There are also inspection companies that can look at the car on your behalf, or a time can be set up to view and drive the car. Please email with any questions you may have.
