Description

PLEASE read the entire ad before asking your questions!!! Up for auction is this ORIGINAL. 98. 72 ORIGINAL MILEAGE. ABSOLUTELY PRISTINE 1969 Grand Prix Model J. This is truly a one-of-a-kind pampered vehicle and drives just like a new car! It is believed to be the only remaining survivor with the Matador Red exterior and Burgundy vinyl interior! 1969 was the only year these colors were offered on the Grand Prix. If you’re a purist and have been looking for a COMPLETELY UNMOLESTED and RARE 1969 Grand Prix. then this is the one you’ve been looking for! This ORIGINAL 1969 Grand Prix is PHS verified. Here is the history and specifics on the car: This 1969 Grand Prix was delivered to Seifert Pontiac in Denver. CO (per the PHS reproduction window sticker) in May. 1969. The chrome dealer insignia is still on the decklid. It was purchased by a couple who took the car back home to Grand Junction. CO. For those of you that don’t know. Grand Junction is on the extreme western edge of the Colorado border and west of the Rocky Mountains. Grand Junction has a hot. arid climate. much like Arizona. Thus. this PRISTINE 1969 Grand Prix has never seen snow or salt! The couple that purchased the car brand new back in July. 1969. drove the car until 2005 when they sold it to the gentleman I bought the car from. (At this point. the car had 96. 00 miles on it). He took the car back to Denver and rarely drove it. as it mostly sat in his garage. I bought the car from him in April. 2014. (NOTE: I have the contact info on the previous owner). THE EXTERIOR: With the exception of a small. quarter sized rust spot behind the drivers-side fender letters. there is no rust anywhere on any of the original body panels on this car. All body panels are straight and true. There are no dings or dents anywhere on this car. The original chrome bumpers are near mint as is all of the original chrome trim. The original chrome front grilles are flawless. The car has had one repaint. back in 2008 by the second owner. In addition to the quarter sized rust spot on the left fender. there was a softball-sized dent above the passenger side rear wheel well. The original lacquer paint was beginning to show its age a bit with some ‘spider webbing’ and spotty fading. This fact along with the two aforementioned defects. made the second owner decide to fix the defects and paint the car in its original Matador Red Code 2076 paint. The job was done right to the tune of $6000 (I have all the paperwork). The car was stripped to bare metal. the passenger side quarter panel dent was fixed. the quarter sized rust spot in the lower front fender was cut out and welded with new metal. the car was primed and painted. After 8 years. the paint still has incredible shine and luster with no defects. I would rate the paint a 9 out of 10. The only thing it needs is a light buff to make the paint look show quality. I’m not that slick with a buffing wheel. so I elected not to touch the paint. Plus. it looks so good now I decided to leave it alone. It should be noted that 1969 was the only year the Matador Red color was offered on the Grand Prix. The original Parchment vinyl top was in great condition. but again. with the car spending most of its life in a hot. arid climate. the top began to dry out and pull away from the outer chrome strips. So the second owner replaced the vinyl top in the correct Parchment color and grain when the car was painted. There were no rust or bubble issues anywhere under the original vinyl top. All glass is original (except the front windshield) and in perfect shape. All weatherstripping and seals were replaced (the originals were beginning to crack) and these are in perfect shape. The original T3 Power Beam headlights work perfectly. The original taillights look new and work perfectly. This 1969 Grand Prix was ordered with the rare wire wheel disc option. These were available as an option on all Pontiac cars from 1965-72. A lucky find on ebay was a set of NOS OEM Pontiac wire wheel discs! The only issue was they were 15”. I purchased them anyway and bought a set of 15” steel wheels and tires. Another lucky ebay find was a set of NOS G78-15 bias ply red-line tires. These tires are the real deal! They are approximately 45 years old and in perfect NOS condition with no dry rotting or cracking. The car drives fantastic on them! Obviously. as you can see from the pics. these 15” red-line bias ply tires and NOS wire wheel discs fill the wheel wells much better than the 14” wheels did. I have the original 14” steel wheels (a set of whitewall radials are mounted on them) and wire wheel discs. They go with the car. When I purchased the car from the second owner. it had a brand new set of 15” BF Goodrich raised white letter radials and ‘mag’ wheels on it. These wheels and tires come with the car as well for those who prefer the look of the white letter tire and mag wheel to the steel wheels and wire wheel discs. THE INTERIOR: EVERYTHING in the Code 85 Burgundy vinyl interior is original to the car and is in pristine condition with NO FADING – the package tray. the vinyl seats. the head liner. the rear seat side panels. the front door panels. the front floor mats. the carpet. the AM radio. the clock. all gauges. dash. console. etc. All interior lights work perfectly. as do all the gauges and the key buzzer. The only item not working in the interior is the original clock. Even the cigarette lighter works! The original seat covers are in excellent condition. as are all of the original deluxe seat belts. The front door panels are pristine with perfect color. There are a couple of small hairline cracks on the armrest portion of each door panel. The ORIGINAL Burgundy vinyl interior is TRULY PRISTINE. as the pics show. It should be noted that. like the Matador Red exterior paint. nbsp; the Burgundy vinyl interior was only offered on the Grand Prix in 1969. This interior color is EXTREMELY RARE! The folks at PHS estimate that of the 112. 00 Grand Prix’s built in 1969. less than 200 were ordered with the Burgundy vinyl interior! THE TRUNK: The original spare tire (G78-14 Goodyear Polyglas) and jack system are completely intact and in pristine condition. The original trunk liner (how rare is that!!) is intact. but the ‘bed’ part of the liner is beginning to come apart a bit. It’s also a bit dried out and beginning to pull away in spots. but overall. is in very good condition. An Ames reproduction Pontiac vinyl mat rests on top of the area of the original liner that is beginning to come apart. These reproduction vinyl mats are the correct size and pattern. but they come only in black. The original Pontiac vinyl trunk mats were gray and nearly impossible to find. Rust Oleum now makes a peelable vinyl spray paint in medium gray that is almost dead on to the original color. I sprayed the vinyl mat in the gray color before I placed it in the trunk. I’ve also included a pic of the trunk liner without the gray mat. so you can see the overall condition of the ‘bed’ part of the original trunk liner. The original jack decal is still present under the deck lid and is beginning to fade and come apart. The original rear speaker (working perfectly) and cover are still present. The original cardboard side panels are present and in excellent condition. There is no rust anywhere to be found inside the trunk. The entire trunk area is extremely clean and pristine. There obviously have never been any roof leaks into the trunk with this car – another testament to a garage- kept car. THE ENGINE BAY: The original XF code 400 4 barrel engine runs and starts perfectly and was rebuilt (balanced and blueprinted) by the second owner. The block was painted in the correct Pontiac 1969 color. The newly rebuilt original engine has only 2500 miles on it. It starts and runs ABSOLUTELY FLAWLESSLY – JUST LIKE A BRAND NEW ENGINE. The original Turbo Hydramatic transmission shifts and works perfectly. The engine bay still retains its original battery tray and holddown clamp. alternator. radiator and shroud. wiring. heater core. Quadrajet carburetor. manifolds. and air cleaner. The following correct-for-the-year reproduction items have been added: Packard black sparkplug wires. tower clamps. AC compressor and sticker (working and blowing cold – converted to R134). brake booster. master cylinder. date coded GM belts. and battery cables. The engine oil was recently changed as was the oil filter. The transmission has been serviced recently and the radiator has been flushed and filled. A new AC Delco battery was recently installed for fresh and reliable starts. All maintenance records for services I have performed. come with the car. I also have all the paperwork from the engine rebuild. The engine bay has been cleaned and detailed to resemble its original factory look when it first rolled into the dealer showroom in May. 1969. The original windshield washer motor and squirters are working perfectly. THE UNDERCARRIAGE: The underside of the car is very clean. The car still retains its original rear end. A new set of shocks have been added recently. A new Magnaflow exhaust system in the correct factory pattern was installed by the 2nd owner. Chrome exhaust tips have been added. I’ve included a pic of the underside of the car. This ORIGINAL 1969 Grand Prix Model J comes with extensive documentation - owner’s manual. warranty leaflet/card. 1969 Colorado license plate. a thick folder of receipts. and PHS documents – build sheet and reproduction window sticker. This may be one of the nicest. original. pristine 1969 Grand Prix’s still in existence. It drives like a dream – just like a new car! Again. this 1969 Grand Prix is believed to be the only remaining survivor with the Matador Red exterior and Burgundy vinyl interior making it a VERY RARE car!! If you’re a purist. then you’ll be hard-pressed to find another original and pristine 1969 Grand Prix as nice as this one. Because of the ABSOLUTELY PRISTINE condition and originality. this is a truly an INVESTMENT GRADE 1969 Grand Prix. Additionally. a high quality sign with car specifics comes with the car. eBay is littered with all kinds of modified Grand Prix’s and unscrupulous sellers who deliberately give out vague and incomplete information in an attempt to hide defects to try to get more for their car. You won’t find that here! That’s why I give a complete. accurate and thorough description of this car. Check out the high resolution pics. I’ve tried to include different shots depending on the light. In bright sunlight. the beautiful Matador Red paint appears brighter. In less light. the paint appears darker. This one is the real deal! Don’t let this one get away! CHECK MY FEEDBACK AND BID WITH CONFIDENCE! Please call me at 937-269-7909 with any additional questions or serious offers.
