Description

Being offered is my 1960 4/4 Sports Roadster. I have owned this car since 1986. over the past 29 years it has always been garaged and maintained. I purchased this car in 1986 from a local Toyota dealer. The Morgan 4/4 is the longest running production vehicle in the automotive world. It's 75 Anniversary was in 2012. (Google "Morgan 4/4" for information about this automotive icon. The Series II was only built from 1955-1960 / only 386 units were built / it was a new car with the new +4 chassis. the 2015 looks like this 1960! This 4/4 was powered by a Ford 100e. nbsp;1. 72 cc. 36 horsepower . side valve engine. and had a 3 speed gearbox. This 4/4 was updated by the previous owner by professionally installing a MGA . 1. 00cc. 78 horsepower @ 5. 00 rpm. OHV engine with a MG 4 speed gearbox. This change. with twice the horsepower. makes for a smoother. more dependable engine. It starts with a push of a button. I did a compression check. and all 4 cylinders were @ 150 lbs. The 4 speed and clutch are very smooth. Clutch master and slave cylinders have been rebuilt. and a new flex pipe has been installed. Mechanically it was in great shape when I bought it in 1986. As we all know old British cars need constant TLC. If you don't want to be constantly working on these cars . you might consider getting something elseI've gone through the brakes. rebuilt the master cylinder. all 6 wheel cylinders. replaced all flex lines. and used Castrol brake fluid. The Series II has all 4 drum brakes. The parking brake needs a new cable and handle installed. The electrical had a few issues. it's Lucas you know. The paint had issues. I didn't like the BRG that it was painted. it had a few dings. no rust. I bought a new TR-6. in 1969. I loved the BRG it was painted. so much so that when I restored my TR-3A and this Morgan I painted them both in the TR-6 BRG. The 4/4 was painted professionally with PPG base/clear coat All fenders. doors. hood front surround. and chrome were removed and painted off the car. (see pics) The fender welting . and all screws. nuts and bolts washers were replaced with stainless steel/ welting/ rubber pieces with Morgan replacement parts from Morgan Motors of New England. They are excellent in any parts you need for any Morgan. They can get parts from the Morgan factory if needed. I replaced the dash with a 1' thick solid custom handmade walnut dash. (see pics) I used 6 sq. yards of black pile automobile carpet. consisting of 22 pieces . to replace loop carpet from the 80's. I had all the necessary edges bound. this is a truly custom installation. The options for this Series II are: Leather seats. black pile carpet. Brookland steering wheel. hood belt fender mirrors. turn signals. nbsp;Tonneau cover. (no top/ side curtains. have top bows). rev counter. side exhaust. New 5 year battery. Pertronix pointless distributor. sports coil and plug wires. The SU' s have new jet assy. needles. needle and seats. they are MGB units . The tires are Cooper 4 ply bias . no dry rot. like new tread. but they are old. I have the top frame and tonneru. but no top or side curtains. /p>I'm selling my 4/4 because I'm downsizing You have to be very "agile" to get in/out of a Morgan. I'm not now. There are no issues with rot/rust/accidents /damages with this car. This 4/4 is in outstanding condition for a 55 year old car. The mileage on the title given to me by the dealer in 1986 shows 16. 500 miles. I would guess the true mileage would be about 40. 00 due to the King pin wear. The car needs new king pins / bushings.
