Rare 1956 Powell Pickup TruckBuilt in Compton CaliforniaOne of less than 300 left to exist This is a rare truck with a unique history. the Powell manufacturing company built 1050 trucks and 300 station wagons in there 3 year Car Making history. the company also made scooters and motorcycles. The truck is one of less then 20 to be built with 2 sliding tool boxes /fishing pole holders. Before you decide to bid please research the company to learn about an unknown family operated car company. this particular truck is as you can see an unfinished project that needs to be finished.The powellmanufacturing company took used and wrecked cars and cut apart.usingthe chassis motor and interior they built the powell truck. they used 1939- 1942PlymouthChrysler or Dodge.The company was family owned and operated. after theystoppedmakingtrucks in 1957 the made scooters and motorcycles. powell tucks can be found in several museums and have been next to impossible to find one forsale.This truck is an basket case. the previous owner past away mid restoration so many parts are off the truck and some are missing. i have not take aninventoryof what is there and what is missing. buyer beware that the truck is not running and is not complete. you are welcome to come see it before buying but it will be sold on an as is bases.the front grill is in the cab of the truck but the fiberglass frontfasciaof the truck is missing. the fiberglass was very thin from the factory and most of them broke or fell off. i have a diagram of the missing front end on how to have it made includingdimensions that most fiberglass shops can use to make the part.the plans were made by a member of the Powell club that has restored a few and has a wealth of information on the truck.i will try to help you with any questions and i have tracked down a few experts on the truck and i am confident ever parts can be found or easily made.the windows only slide and half of each side is missing.the truck has a few boxes of parts that go to this truck but many are missing of need to be made.the seat doorpanelsand other interior parts are missing.there is a few boxes of parts inside the truck with a parts to the truck.still has ahandfulof original badges that say POWELL custom built inComptonCaliforniathe tailgate and grill are included. the factory made the grills out of 3 piece of 1950 ford rear door trim.the tires still have the stickers on the tread from the store.it looks like it has had a new wire harness ran through it but its not allattached. theheadlightgauges and many other things arereadyto be wired but are notinstalledyet.before we got the truck the owner wasrestoringthe truck. it appears theengine has had work done and i think it would start up and run with a little work. it is not running now. theradiator is off.the rear end has two sliding drawers. one is a tool box and the other is a fishing pole holder. one of less than 20 with 2 sliders.under the tailgate is a bolt on cover that hides the spare tire (missing) that mounts under the bed.windshield is broken but it is just a piece of flat glass.the doors open and close with ease. they latch great. the door hinges areactuallyon the out side of the door.from the factory the truck were hand built from other care from the 50sor parts from the hardware stores in 1956. the tuck is a work of simplemakessenseengineering. it was a crude utilitarian truck made cheep with what they had.contact me for all the links for the history and information on the truck. ebay dose not allow links in the listingPlease contact me with any questions. you can text me any time at 574 514 2654 but i workduringthe days so please call in the eveningThis truck is not running and is sold as is where is. you buy it you worry about hauling it.shipping is on the buyer.buyer must pay thedepositwithin 2 days and have the full payment to me before the title or truck is released.i will try to pack the spare parts as safe as is can in the cab for shipping.we reserve the right to remove the truck at any time. the truck is for sale locally.be sure to check out my other rare car parts andaccessories.message or text me for questions.thanks for looking. happy bidding.GOOD LUCK
