LIKELY THE FINEST EXAMPLE OF A TVR VIXEN 2500 YOU WILL EVER FIND. AFTER 40+ YEARS OF OWNERSHIP I'M LISTING OUR BEAUTIFUL 1972 TVR VIXEN 2500 WITH LESS THAN 38000 MILES ON IT. THIS MODEL WAS HAND BUILT BY THE FACTORY IN BLACKPOOL ENGLAND. I'M ONLY THE SECOND OWNER AND IT WAS BOUGHTFROM IT'S ORIGINAL PURCHASER WHEN IT WAS LESS THAN 2 YEARS OLD.I CHALLENGE ANYONE TO FIND A BETTER MORE PRISTINE UNMOLESTED EXAMPLE.NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH THE LATERHEAVIER TVR 2500M THE VIXEN 2500 WAS BUILT BETWEEN 1971 AND 1972 AND WAS DESIGNED TO UTILIZE THE TRIUMPH 2.5 LITER 6 CYLINDER ENGINE/TRANS/DIFFERENTIAL.. ONLY 279 WERE EVER BUILT.TRIUMPH RUNNING GEAR IS DEAD SIMPLE VERY AVAILABLE AND EASY TO DEAL WITH WHICH HAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE CAR'S LONGEVITY AND DURABILITY. SPECIALTY PARTS ARE STILL AVAILABLE FROM DAVID GERALD TVR IN ENGLAND.THE CAR STARTS EASILY AND RUNS BEAUTIFULLY TICKING OVER QUIETLY AT A SMOOTH 650 RPM AT IDLE. IT RETAINS ALL ITS ORIGINAL NUMBERS-MATCHING POWER TRAIN FRONT TO REAR. I'VE SERVICED IT MYSELF OVER THE PAST FOUR DECADES. IT HAS BEEN MAINTAINED TO THE HIGHEST STANDARDS AND ALWAYS GARAGED. SINCE IT IS FIBERGLASS RUST IS NOT AN ISSUE. CARS OF THIS VINTAGE WILL NORMALLY REQUIRE AN ADDITIVE TO THE FUEL AS THEY WERE MADE FOR LEADED GAS. THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE FOR THIS ENGINE AS I REMOVED THE HEAD AND INSTALLED STELLITE VALVES WHICH ARE COMPATIBLE WITH TODAY'S NO-LEAD FUEL. I HAVE REBUILT THE CARBS 3 TIMES OVER THE YEARS. DUE TO ONLY MONTHLY USAGE OIL HAS BEEN CHANGED EVERY 500-750 MILES TO ELIMINATE THE POTENTIAL OF CONTAMINATION.A FEW IMPROVEMENTS (RATHER THAN MODIFICATIONS) HAVE BEEN MADE FROM ITS ORIGINAL STATE. THE COLOR IS 1975 PORSCHE "ANNIVERSARY SILVER" AS WE FOUND THE OEM PAINT TO BE LESS THAN ACCEPTABLE.TRIUMPH'STRADITIONAL2.5 LITER SIX FRONT MAIN SEAL OIL LEAKAGE HAS BEEN ELIMINATED WITH THE INSTALLATION OF AN OIL PAN/ENGINE BLOCK "BRIDGE" DEVELOPED SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS PURPOSE. ADDITIONALLY A MOSS MOTORS VACUUM ADVANCE CONVERSION HAS BEEN ADDED TO ELIMINATE THE ABSURD FACTORY "20 DEGREE RETARD AT IDLE" SETTING TO A COOL RUNNING PLUS 4 DEGREE ADVANCE. THIS COMPLETELY ELIMINATES THE HOT RUNNING ISSUES PLAGUING TRIUMPH ENGINES OF THIS VINTAGE. EVEN SO AS A PRECAUTION A THERMOSTATICALLY-CONTROLLED HAYDEN ELECTRIC FAN IS INSTALLED WITH CUSTOM BRACKETRY. STAINLESS STEEL BRAKE LINES REPLACE THE ORIGINAL RUBBER ONES AND THE BRAKE AND CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDERS HAVE BEEN RENEWED. I HAVE A NEW ORIGINAL COOLANT OVERFLOW BOTTLE IF YOU WISH. (THE AFTERMARKET ONE INSTALLED FRANKLY WORKS BETTER.) REPLACING THE ORIGINAL MEAGER MOTORCYCLE HORNS IT CAME WITH ARE POWERFUL FIAMM AIR HORNS. NEW PERIOD-CORRECT DUNLOP TIRES HAVE LESS THAN 500 MILES ON THEM. THE RADIATOR WAS RE-CORED A FEW YEARS AGO AND LASTLY I FINALLY GAVE IN AND REPLACED THE INTERIOR SEATS AND HEADLINER WITH ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT MATERIALS AT A COST OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. THE MANUAL SUNROOF WORKS FINE.IF YOU EVER DO NEED UNIQUETVRPARTS FOR THE VIXEN THEYARE STILL AVAILABLE THROUGH DAVID GERALD TVR IN ENGLAND.WEIGHING IN AT UNDER 1800 POUNDS WITH A TUBE FRAME CHASSIS IT HAS FORMIDABLE PERFORMANCE. IT COMPARES FAVORABLY TO EUROPEAN EXOTICA OF ITS DAY WITHOUT THE HORRORS OF INTENSIVE MAINTENANCE AND PARTS AVAILABILITY.THE CAR ROUTINELY DELIVERS 25+ MPG IN MIXED DRIVING AND USES REGULAR FUEL THOUGH I PREFER TO USE MID-GRADE 89 OR PREMIUM 92. MAGAZINE REVIEWS OF THE DAY RECORDED ALMOST 1G SKID PAD TESTS.BRITISH CARS HAVE TWO INFAMOUS CHARACTERISTICS: OIL LEAKS AND WEAK ELECTRICS. I HAVE NEVER HAD AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE IN THIS CAR THOUGH I HAVE REBUILT THE STARTER. I HAVE ALSO SERVICED THE GROUNDS ON AN ANNUAL BASIS TO INSURE GOOD CONTACTS. ENGINETRANS AND REAR ARE LEAK-FREE THOUGH SOME SEEPAGE IS EVIDENT FROM TIME TO TIME.EVERYTHINGWORKS. THE GAUGES ARE ACCURATE AND ILLUMINATED. THE HEAD AND PARKING LIGHTS TURN SIGNALS WIPERS DOME LIGHTCIGAR LIGHTER HAZARDS EVERYTHING. EVEN THE BRAKE MASTER WARNING SYSTEM AND PARKING BRAKE LIGHT WORKS. IT CARRIES A CLEAR CALIFORNIA TITLE AND HAS BEEN INSPECTED FOR AUTHENTICITY BY THE CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL.THE BODYWORK IS PRISTINE SAVE A FEW ROCK CHIPS AND THREE TYPICAL FIBERGLASS PAINT CRACKS CONFINED TO THE HOOD ABOVE THE HOOD STRIKER PIN AREA (SEE PICTURES). ALL OF THE GLASS INCLUDING THE REAR BACKLIGHT IS ORIGINAL. BOTH THE WINDSHIELD AND BACK LIGHT RUBBER GLASS CHANNELS HAVE BEEN RENEWED. TWO OF THE WHEELS HAVE SOME CHIPS ON THE EDGES.WHILE I HATE TO PASS IT ON THE FACT IS I JUST DON'T DRIVE IT ENOUGH.
