Description

1955 Morgan +4 RHD Roadster

Listed on behalf of the owner. Located near PORTLAND OREGON.

Chassis # 3199. Built in 1955 for the Managing Director of Dunlop Tyres Ltd. (UK).

After finding its way to the U.S. this Morgan received a full frame-off restoration by renowned marque specialist Robert Couch of The Morgan Shop in 1997-'98. At that time literally everything was restored with the exception of the engine. Items addressed included: New chassis • New front sub-frame • New valances and firewall • New wiring harness with upgrade to alternator • New body skin and doors from Morgan • New custom urethane paint • Complete new leather interior • Dashboard restored • New chrome • Rebuilt transmission (Moss 4 speed) • Rebuilt rear axle • Rebuilt front and rear suspension • Rebuilt front and rear brakes.

After being enjoyed on the road for approximately 3500 miles and passing to a new owner in 2007 the original TR-3 engine Moss transmission and driveline were rebuilt by Robert Couch. The engine was upgraded to quasi-Super Sport specifications (a Morgan Super Sport won the 2-litre GTClass at the 24 Hours of LeMans in 1962) and now develops 125 HP up from the stock 100 HP factory Morgan. The engine rebuild included: New pistons and liners • All new bearings • Reground cam with new timing gear and chain • Rods reconditioned • Cylinder head reworked for better flow with stronger springs • Jet coated headers • Rear lip seal conversion • Engine balanced and blueprinted to factory specifications.

A total of over $80000 has been invested in this Morgan to bring it to its present level. (All receipts included with sale.)

This Morgan has been driven approximately 3000 miles over the past 7 years (since the mechanical rebuild) and performs flawlessly. It has been a consistent class winner in showings throughout the west. Always garaged and pampered it presents beautifully today. See photos and video. The only reason for selling is to make room in the garage.

If you are looking for one of the nicest Morgans available today for show or go this is the one. A realistic reserve has been placed on the car WELL BELOW the amount invested. Considering the rarity (1 of 184 built) and quality of this Morgan someone is going to get a bargain.

WE WILL HAPPILY SELL TO BIDDERS WORLDWIDE.

Thanks for looking and GOOD LUCK!
