This is a relatively complete and amazingly mostly rust free 1951 Hudson Model 5A
Hudson Model 5A - serial # 52141 - January 1951 build date.
19,785 were built in January 1951, 131,915 total were built in 1951.
124" wheelbase - Straight Six 262 cubic inches - 6.7:1 compression ratio
Model 5A is the Super Six model with the manual 3 speed on the tree.
The Hornets came with an automatic.
This is sometimes referred to as a Hudson Super Custom Six Four-Door Sedan, nd
also known as a 1951 Hudson Super-Six Custom 4 door sedan 6-cyl. 262cid/123hp 2bbl.
It is also included in references to the Hudson Commodore-Super 2nd generation models.
This car was one of several that the owner had. A picture of the owner standing in front of a green Hudson
from April 1961 was found in the car, he link to additional pictures below includes a picture of the picture.
The picture was given to his son. The owner had retired from the Coast Guard and brought this 1951 Hudson
out from Pennsylvania where it had been stored for years. The son said his dad had this car since the 1960's.
The owner's son is not sure if it's the same car.
When the car was brought out to Washington his son said it was in excellent condition, nd a full restoration was started.
The owner was a foster parent to several special needs kids who helped on the project. Their assistance led to many small
parts being separated from the car and misplaced. When the owner passed away suddenly about 7 years ago the parts that
were not with the car were removed with a large number of other parts by the owner's son who had to clean up the property.
It wasn't until later that he realized that some of those parts belonged to this car.
The owner and his son had planned to finish the restoration and were just beginning to work on it when his dad passed away
suddenly from a heart attack. His son has kept the car on the property under cover in hopes of restoring the car in memory of his
dad but hasn't been able to and is being forced by the city to get the vehicle off the property. The car has been sitting for over 7 years
in the driveway with tarps over it. Unfortunately nothing was done to protect the vehicle other than covering it. The owner's son had to
deal with the support of his siblings and the estate and only recently turned his attention to the car. The owner's son would like to see the
car after it is repaired and running, t is important to him that the car is restored and brought back into service.
So, lease if you bid, id with the idea of making the vehicle whole again and it is hoped you'll keep in touch with the owner's son.

The pictures don't show that much of the trash has been removed from inside the car. That's how we found the picture of the owner from
the 1960's along with old registrations from both PA and WA.
The vehicle will need to be placed on a flatbed trailer or tilt back and removed. It is easily accessible. In some of the pictures you might see the
flatbed trailer backed up to the car. A tow truck, oll back, ilt bed or car trailer will have no trouble getting behind the car to load it.
The tires are flat. Considering the time it has sat outside under tarps it is surprisingly free of mold, ust and other possible related water damage.
The engine, hile exposed has a good layer of grease on it so that it is quite possible the engine will still turn over. Did not have time to attempt rotating
the engine, ut the transmission easily moved through the gears.
The car started to roll when winched. While it looks bad in the pictures, nd there is body damage, t is minor and the shell overall is in good condition.
The only rust through is in the area by the driver's floor pan and that outside section of the body pan. Did not find the tail lights, ut did not dig through
all of the parts on the floors, nd there may be additional parts in buckets. All totalled the important pieces not found appear to be the cylinder head, br> exterior door handles (you can stick your finger in the opening and push, t unlatches!), he passenger side inner front fender, he rear bumper and the tail lights.
The parts are out there, nd they are surprisingly affordable. This appears to be an excellent restoration project and can be done adequately on a budget.
Getting it together and running could be done first as you enjoyed it while restoring it to near original condition.
Buyer assumes all responsibilities for transportation and removal of car from property within 7 days of auction closing.
The owner's son needs to have the vehicle removed from the property and is the reason for parting with the car.
Payment will be made to the owner's son who is the executor of the estate and holds the title. No warranty of any kind is offered.
