1947 dodgE DELUXE – JoB RATED
NO RESERVE
Thank you for checking out “Clarence”, y post war 1947 Dodge WC Pickup. This is a Job Rated, C ½ ton short bed model. I believe this truck to be one of the deluxe models, here were not that many options on them, utit has theOptionalDeluxe Heater,Dome Light, eft side Sunvisor, ndDeluxe seat (which has aventon the bottom of it, hich you can control the airflow inside the seat, eally neat option, ee pictures. These are some of the most beautiful Dodge trucks ever built, nd on top of that pretty rare to see today. These Job Rated trucks started in 1939 and ended in 1947. The attention to detail on these trucks were awesome, hey really have an Art Deco look, ove the swoopy looks, he grill area, nd bottom of the fenders all have stamped 3 bar in them, ery classy. It is currently in the 39-47 Dodge truck Master Registry, here they are building a database for these rare machines. When I got the truck, t was a total barn find, nch think of dust, ost my picture pushing it out. I love bringing these rigs back into the light of day, ust makes me smile. It had not driven for years, ut a solid old rig with good bones and really a very good all steel body. The truck was original bought in in Sherwood, regon on 3/24/47, o a gentleman named William Bishchof. I bought the truck in Sherwood actually 67 years later not far from where it was in 1947. We here in the Willamette Valley, o not salt the roads, e have very cool summers and mild winters, hich saves old trucks and cars like this. I don’t know a lot about its early history in general, ust know that it has spent its whole life here in Oregon, nd the second owner got if from the original farm. It was eventually pulled off of the farm, nd the new owner, eft it in his barn for several years. He planned to get it back on the road, ut after sitting for a number of years his health started to fail and he passed away. I got it from the family and brought it home, nd tinkered with it, nd basically got it back on the road so it is drivable. It is one really cool truck, ith a ton of patina, t has an awesome look. I have it titled in my name, as planning on messing with it a little bit more, ut I am clearing a few of my own projects out, o work on a pretty rare Messerschmitt KR200, ever planned on selling Clarence, nbsp;but decided to let it go last week, o here you have it. Give me a call would like to talk more about the Dodge with you. Thanks, ason 503-9102-2085This is a factory Black truck, hich I love. The paint is very old and has lots of wear, retty obvious from the photos. You may want to repaint it down the road, ut for now it is pretty much all one color black, ol, nd you can enjoy it as is if you like. If it were me, would probably patina it out a little more, ear the paint of the top of the fenders, ood, oof, asically the wear edges, t would look really cool, ut then again, he old black paint looks cool as well, he choice will be up to you, t is a great canvas. To me it has perfect patina right now. The guy or gal who loves stock trucks, r who love old school hot rods, an take it in either directions. We’ll start from the front to the back: The front bumper is in good shape, t’s very straight and in good shape, aint is worn, inor surface rust, ut overall good bumper. The grill is in nice shape, tainless needs restored, ut all there. The hood is in excellent condition, ith no dents, oors in nice shape, o rust or major issues. The cab itself is really solid, ice solid bottoms corners of the car, he cowl is in great shape, he cowl vent does open and close nicely. The fenders are very solid, riginal steel, ot rusty, ut you can see areas were they have been lighted dented and massaged back out. The rear bed is in good shape, nd piece of steel has been put in the bottom of the floor welded in. The bed is in very good shape in general. You can see, ome repairs, n the bed on the outside infront of the rear fenders, n the side walls, ere the inner rails were attached, ere there is some filler there, o on tried to make it pretty, t was a farm truck, o maybe a little rust was happening, ot sure, hey just tried to fix it and cover it, eally old repairs, ost likely pretty easy to attend to if you so choose. The tailgate has some rust issues, ake pictures, till useable, ut there are pin holes in it and it will need repairs. It has a new bumper on the rear, nd still has its spare tire and hold down hanger for it. The running boards are in great shape, o rust very solid. Overall, he exterior of the truck is really straight forward, t is old, een painted a few times, robably on the farm, nd basically it just a really old cool truck. I have looked inside the fenders, nd other areas on this truck, nd it is really solid, he fenders don’t show any signs of any bondo abuse on them, specially from judging from the inside of them. Take a look at the pictures and you will get a really good idea of what it is. No bondo in the cab corners that I can see, ook clean inside and out. The interior, s you can see, nbsp;is in very decent shape. It does have newer door panels, nd headliner in it, nd floor mat. The padding in the seat seems to be in good shape, nd it is comfortable to sit in, he material has some wear, ut in nice shape. As you look around inside, cross the dash, verything is there, ut if you want it to look nicer you could upgrade the trim and stuff. The side glass rolls up and down, he passenger side needs a tiny bit of up half way down, ut very minor. You can see delamination on the front windshield, t also needs a new rubber seal, ecause it does leak a little bit. I have a new seal for it though. The side glass, as 2 small chips on the edges, ne on each side. The windshield is also a crank out unit, ut it currently won’t open, t feels bound, ut mostly the window is sealed shut. I keep it parked inside most of the time, have had it outside a times, ut until the new windshield seal is in and other gaskets, indow felts etc, like to protect it most I can. The inner door jambs and hinges are in very good condition. The gauges are working, ut the fuel gauge works half the time, o it needs to be looked at. The Speedometer works, ut odometer is not currently working, o the miles are unknown on the truck. It was parked for around 20 years before I got it though, was told it was 48K original miles, ut I do not have documentation to back it that up. Only one wiper is working, nd the horn is not currently working. The Deluxe heater does work on the truck light works, ne speed, ll hooked up, nd has heat. Also. I did double check, n case you get caught in major typhoon rain storm, hat the door drains were clear, specially since this rig has sat for many years, nd I do not have a door key for the lock, nly the ignition. Mechanically, he truck seems to be in good condition. The engine I believe is the original to the truck, ngine number should be T112-154643, lock number is 1815529-26, ead number 1311818-18, ate code 7-28. The engineI do not see it on the stamp pad it is blank, t is possible it was never stamped, ot really sure, t does not look like it has ever been out of the truck in general. You could probably stamp it in if you like, know the correct engine number, ecause I have actually documentation dating back to 1947 from Oregon DMV. As you can see it looks very nice, ut basically it has just had a minor detail above the oil pan, een cleaned, nd things touched up to look like new again, planned on using it as our cool little shop rig, o wanted it to look clean and mostly useable. The engine though does run like it looks, ery smooth running, oes not blow smoke, r have any noise, as very good power. The Carb has just been professionally rebuilt, lso the original starter I had rebuilt as well. The transmission is a 4spd manual, t works great in all the gears, ut it is straight cut gears, o you don’t want to be shifting hard, t takes a little getting use to, f you are not used to it, t shifts very good, nd clutch feels great. The battery is new, he charging system seems be working good as well. The brakes have been gone through recently, ew master cylinder, nd wheel cylinders all the way around. If it sits for a bit, hough, ou need to push the pedal to the floor once or twice, nd then they pump up. The master cylinder I bought has a vent tube off it, hat releases pressure, o that may be why I have to pump them up for a second when the truck sits in general, ut on the road, ot an issue, ust got to remember it if it has been sitting and you get into drive it. If you know old trucks, ou already know the drill about brakes and such. The exhaust is in good shape. The rear end feels tight and is not sloppy, nd the U-joints feel good as well. What it needs next, s the suspension rebuilt new bushing and such, t has never been rebuilt ever. At around 40-45, guess that is about the speed, ot sure if speedometer is accurate, eels a little faster, ut it is a wondering old rig. It does drive straight, ut there is a lot of play in steering wheel, o the steering box needs adjusted or rebuilt down the road, ut I think most of the play is from the suspension and king pins, hich allow for a little bit of the floating around, dd on top of that, ias ply tires. The tires are actually in pretty good shape, hey are older but they seem to be in great shape for the vintage, t is running 3” portawalls on it, ou have to look close, ost people don’t notice but they are, ou can see if you look close that they are a little floppy on the edges, ust like they were in the good old days. Overall, echanically this car is a solid, ood running truck, ut you will probably want to make upgrades to it as time goes on. All of the exterior lights work: blinkers, eadlights, og lamps all work, tc. The windshield wipers are not working. The hubcaps are original, nd in decent shape. The undercarriage, hich you can see in the photos on my lift, s in very good shape. The frame is in excellent condition, ith only minor surface rust. There has been no alterations or repairs on it. The cab, nd floors are in really nice shape, put the floor mat in, nd padding, nder the seat is in really nice shape, he framing is all good inside cab for seat etc. I have all the interior in it, ut didn’t want to dismantle it all to show it, t does have very solid floors no issues with it. You can see that from underneath. Sorry for the story book, ut trying my best to give you a good description, t the end of the day, his is a little Sweet Heart, ard to find in this condition, hope you give Clarence a good home!!!
