1955 Packard Clipper Custom Sedan
This car is a very highly optioned original car with one repaint and has been lovingly restored and cared for with all mechanical systems gone through and is a fine driving piece of American history. The car was found in original paint and is fully documented with pictures as found, nd past owner information.
Two tone paint, utomatic transmission, B, S, W, Seats, Cyl, his car is loaded with almost all the options that were available except A/C, t has p/s, /brakes, ower windows, ower front seat, ower antenna, reen tint solex glass, onderbar radio with aux rear speaker and rear volume control, ear reading lamp, runk lamp. It has an aux heater core for rear floor heat and front driver controlled ventilation defrost and heat, t also has automatic rear leveling suspension via mechanical torsion bars from the factory that still function. It has a 2 speed automatic transmission with a hydraulic lock up torque converter, lectric clock, indshield washer with coordinator and more. The car is upgraded to pertronics ignition and modern carb for drivability but original #s matching parts can be included with the car, t has new tires, attery, uel tank boiled and restored, ecore radiator and much more to make this car a car to drive and enjoy. All gages, ptions and accessories are functional at this time except the matching numbers Wonder Bar radio which turns on but needs some tlc. A modern hidden radio supplies the tunes. The engine is numbers matching and the transmission should be also upon inspection of stampings. Chrome and stainless is original and in very presentable condition.
This car is also very rare by the numbers! As Packard fans and collectors know, ll cars were consecutively numbered with a body embossed number on the firewall <123456> in addition to the data plate vin. I have correspondence with a Packard expert who tracks these and has written an article for the Cormorant on body numbers (Packard Thief Proof numbers) that there are only a handful of cars which came out of the factory with blank firewalls- < > ie (1940 or early production55) and only 5 other 1955 cars (mid prod) which have a rare out of sequence “Thief Proof” number. Cars in this era of Packard production were all embossed with a letter as the first digit of the theft proof number. The 1955-56 production were CXXXXX-DXXXXX but these six cars have six digit TP numbers between the triangles all starting with a 2 ie (222XXX). As of my written correspondence with the historian, he other documented surviving cars were all senior Packards and this is the only Clipper known.
Since it is the highest trim level for a Clipper and highly optioned car all this adds up to a very rare car.
Much was spent on new parts on its recent resurrection including new wide white wall tires, ew battery, ew brakes, ew hoses, ew vacuum lines, ew headliner etc etc the list goes on and on. All reasonable offers entertained. No trade offers please.
