For your consideration is my beautiful original 505 S turbo diesel that has had the best of care and has a mere 65,000 original miles.
It's a time capsule that will take you back to 1982 with appeal.
Short history, his 505 left the assembly line in Sochaux, rance in July, 981.
Imported into Portland, regon on September 30, 981 for the original owner who resided in Medford, regon.
It was driven to Monterey, a. in May, 008 where it is currently located.
We have record of 3 owners, being the 3rd. and a good friend being the 2nd.
This is a turnkey and enjoy Peugeot 505. It is a pleasure to drive without excuse and the constant thumbs up will provide the next owner many smiles per mile.
Peugeot's engineering of the 505 series was far superior than its competitors of the time. These are great touring cars where one can drive for hours and not feel fatigued when you arrive at your destination. The turbo charged diesel provides sufficient power and torque to keep with today's automobiles.
Average mpg is 22-25 in town and a high of 31 mpg. on extended highway driving.
I will simply state that these examples do not come up for sale often and this is a unique opportunity to buy one of the best preserved 505 models in the states.
Exterior:
The Alaska white exterior is excellent condition. For the perfectionist like myself, he hood and right front fender have received a second coat of paint sometime ago with the first owner. There is no evidence of body damage and the paint matches beautifully along with the original pin-striping.
The exterior rubber seals such as the glass, oors, umpers and sunroof are original and are in excellent condition and not deteriorated. The light lens and side trim are in very good condition with no oxidation. There is no rust being a west coast car.
Interior:
The interior is where the preservation shines. The blue interior with the plush velour seats are perfect. Headliner, oor panels, arpet are excellent and the dash is perfect as well!
Accessories:
All accessories are in working condition. Electric windows, entral locking H vac, tc.
Cruise control can be finicky to set but I never use it.
The sunroof was serviced in 2008 that included a new OEM installed sunroof cable and guides.
600 miles on Michelin Pilot 205/65R/15 radial tires with on later 15" STI wheels. Includes matching spare
(the change in wheel height from the original 14" to 15" provides for a slightly taller tire, ence the 30+ mark in mpg. with no noticeable decrease in power)
This 505 has several dealer installed accessories that are not common;
Fog lamps with guards
Splash guards with Peugeot logo
Sunroof deflector
Original radio was removed for favor of a Pioneer CD stereo with Bluetooth hands free and USB connectivity.
Hella H4 quad headlamps have been installed as the original sealed beams in my opinion weren't sufficient. Low beams are 60W. French yellow and the high beams are 100W.
I've installed KYB front struts inserts and rear shocks. These changes still provide the famous ride characteristics these are known for, early hypnotic!
A/C isn't as cold as it should and could benefit from a recharge as it was last done in 2010. Converted to R134a
Include are the original owners manuals, ack, ug wrench and two sets of keys.
Mechanics:
The 2.3 liter XD2S engine runs with no hesitation or smoke on startup.. The ZF automatic transmission shifts smoothly through all gears. The rear differential is a limited slip.
The entire drive-train is free of any leaks or drips
Power assisted brakes are firm and the rear rotors and pads were replaced less than 1k. miles ago
Power rack & pinion steering is effortless
The car is squeak and rattle free which is consistent with its preservation and original low mileage.
Car is sold as is. Buyer is welcome to inspect the car BEFORE the end of the auction or to have someone check it out for you on your behalf. I have tried to accurately describe this car, oth cosmetically and mechanically. Please note that this vehicle is 33 years old with normal lite wear and cosmetic blemishes appropriate to it’s age, hich include some minor scratches and paint chips consistently found on frontal areas.
This is one of the first Peugeot 505 turbo diesels to be insured with Hagerty Insurance for agreed value. That value is greater than the reserve.
I've owned many Peugeot's models over my lifetime, his one will be missed.
