You’re looking at my 1970 Plymouth Road Runner. Road Runners were made in many different years and in many different configurations. This one. being a 1970. is in my opinion the best looking of the bunch. What makes it even more desirable is the configuration. If you’re like me. it’s amazing to see how many different ways Chrysler built their cars. If you’re also like me. you love the 1970 Road Runner with a six barrel. 4 speed. buckets. console covered with a high impact color paint. This 1970 Road Runner. one of 697 made in 1970. came from the factory with a 440 six barrel engine and a four speed transmission painted in bright Vitamin C Orange. The black interior has bucket seats. a center console with a Tick Tach Clock and an AM radio. Stripe packages include the V21 performance hood paint and the V8X the rear deck lid stripe. To stop the car. this Road Runner came with power disc brakes. the rear end is a 3:54 Dana. Mileage on the odometer read 47. 52 but I can’t verify this number. When you’re looking to buy a collector car. authenticity and originality play an important role with the cars value and appeal. This car comes with two broadcast sheets. an original fender tag and all the proper identifiers. This Road Runner is a Numbers Matching car with the exception of the transmission. With that I mean that the VIN on the dash matches the fender tag along with the VIN on the radiator support and the VIN on the trunk lid lip. which matches the engine and also matches the original door sticker. The 3:54 Dana rear end is also original to the car. Cast number. build date identification and VIN stamping on the engine are all proper. The transmission. while not numbers matching. is an 18 spline unit similar to what would have come with the car in 1970. The intake manifold is cast and original. The carburetors were ordered from Chrysler as mechanical secondary units and show in Galin Govier’s parts book. Air cleaner assembly is original to the car as is the “956” radiator. The fender tag and build sheet option codes break down as follows: 19149 165040 122 083 676 26 C16 EK2 V21 EK2 P6XA TX9 B11 118745 E87 D21 RM23 VOA 162722 19149 – Gate Series 165040 – Line Sequence Number 122 – Engine 440 Six Barrel 083 – Axle 3:54 Dana 676 - 4 Speed Hemi Transmission 26 – 26 Inch Radiator C16 – Floor Console EK2 – Vitamin C Orange Top Paint V21 – Performance Hood Treatment EK2 – Vitamin C Orange Body Paint P6XA – Premium Bucket Seats in Black TX9 – Upper Door Frame Paint in Black B11 – Scheduled Production Date November 11. 1969 118745 – Vehicle Order Number E87 – 440 Six Barrel Engine D21 – Hemi Four Speed Transmission RM23 – Road Runner Hard Top VOA – 440-6 barrel – 1970 - Lynch Road Assembly Plant 162722 – VIN Sequence Number When I bought this car I had every intention to restoring it back to its glory. Unfortunately for me. circumstances have sidetracked my desires. As you can see in the pictures. the car has some rust issues mostly in the rear of the car. The front of the car is mostly solid. The fenders. hood and doors are all in good condition. The gaps on the doors. fenders and hood are all very good. The rear quarters. trunk floor extensions. trunk floor. rear frame rails. inner and outer rockers. outer wheelhouses and driver’s side floor panels need to be replaced. The remainder of the interior floors. the inner wheelhouses and trunk area between the outer wheelhouses are solid. I have most of the parts to put this car back together. Some parts that are missing include the center console. the clock and tach and some small items. I suggest that serious bidders come to look at the car in person.
