Description

1955 Plymouth Belvedere Sport Coupe - A Rare Hardtop BeautyI purchased this car in late 2007 from an older gentleman who inherited it in the '70s from his elderly aunt who purchased the car new in '55 in West Virginia (still have the original dealer key chain). The 59443 mileage appears to be original by the paperwork provided to me when I purchased the car and by many enthusiasts and old school mechanics who have worked on the car. This top of the line Plymouth Belvedere was built at the Detroit factory during 1955 "The year Chrysler. Ford and Chevrolet made dramatic changes to their lines". You may see '55 Chevys and '55 Fords but '55 Plymouths are rare and in my opinion the best looking of the Big 3 in '55. This car always turns heads due to its condition. color combination. unique design. throaty dual exhaust and rarity. 1955 was a huge and exciting year for cars as the fins started to rise. V8s were drastically improved and the slick modern lines of the hardtops were the rage. This car needed very little TLC when delivered to me and the paint and upholstery/carpet had been professionally redone once with original colors and materials by the previous owner and still present extremely well. It started and ran great when I bought it and it starts and runs just as great now. In 2009. I did have 3 small rust bubbles on the rockers professionally repaired and painted along with a small area on the hood and had the steering wheel repainted . It has always been fully maintained and garage kept. In July 2014 I had Fantomworks in Norfolk. nbsp;professionally replace the headliner. rebuild the Power Flight automatic transmission (including the torque converter). install 5 new Coker "American Classic" radials. nbsp;perform a complete brake job. convert the brakes to a 2 reservoir master cylinder and new lines run for added safety (67 barracuda master cylinder used to be true to Mopar). rebuild the carburetor. replace the distributer. install a new 6 volt battery and perform a complete tune up. I also had the Chrysler generator rebuilt professionally rather than install a new or non-molar unit. There are a couple of small chips and surface rust starting on the bottom of the driver's door and there is a small dent on the drivers side grill (pictures of same included). There is also some rust on the trunk floor (some small holes starting) under the trunk mat which is common for a car this age but the trunk floor is sound. All gauges. lights. wipers. heater. cowl vent. seats. nbsp;windows. trunk release. locks and hood operate perfectly. The radio however only operates intermittently. All chrome and stainless are in very nice condition and I do have several spare parts. original owners manual. advertising pieces and other items that will come with the car if desired by the successful bidder. This car ALWAYS turns heads of the young. old and in between. I have many more pictures of the cars available and I'm happy to answer any bidder questions. Purchaser is fully responsible for pick up and/or transportation costs. The vehicle is being sold AS IS. where is. without warranty. Successful bidder must provide Seller 10% of purchase price within 24 hours of the close of the auction via wire transfer or bank certified check with the balance due within 7 days or when picking up vehicle. whichever occurs first.
