Description

If you are shopping for a high horsepowered, smoke the tires and running a 11 second quarter mile MOPAR this is not what your are looking for. But if you are looking for anextremelynice, ead turning, ell cared for, ar show multiple award winning car, his might be the MOPAR for you.
Most MOPAR enthusiast probably know this but I will state it anyway on how the "Dual Badge" came about. After 1971 Plymouth dropped the GTX as a stand alone car line. In 1972 -74 the Road Runner came standard with a 340 engine. You could also special order a 318, 00 and a 440. When ordering a 440 power plant the Road Runner now became a "Dual Badge" name plate car- Plymouth Road Runner/GTX. In 1972 only 672 GTX packages were sold. Of that number 453 were automatics. This one came with a torqueflite 727 slap stick transmission, 3/4 rear axle with 3.23 gears The Plymouth Road Runner GTX was identified by the "U" code in the vin number. VIN NUMBERS (RM23U26192478)
This is a real 440 Road Runner/GTX, ot a clone or tribute car. The car has its Vin Number and Fender Tag. I also have the twopreviousowners information and how to contact if you want to talk to them about the car . It still has the original drive train (engine-trans-rear end numbers matching) which has never been rebuilt ormolested. The car has 118K miles on it. The car has the 440 engine (280HP), 27 torqueflite transmission, 3/4 rear axle with 3.23 gears. I bought this car in 2008 after a frame up restoration to the body was performedprioryear. At that time the body and paint work were completely finished and new Legendary white interior, eadliner, sunvisorsand black carpet were installed. The car was painted in its original color FE5 (Rally Red) with PPG paint and 3 coats of clear lacquer top coat. I have had this car for over 6 years and replaced a laundry list of items. The list is endless and it is all documented with paid bills. Between 2009 and 2014 the following work was performed. The interior of the car was removed and EZ Cool heat and noise reduction material was installed. See the pictures. The console was refinished and new wood grain overlay installed ( I also have a new slapstick shifter chrome and glass cover for the console). In September of 2014 the old rally dashboard was removed and a new rebuilt Rally dashboard, iring harness, 50 mph speedometer, peedometer cable and correct Mopar steering wheelwas installed by Bob Berry Mopars in Fairhope, labama. Bob also installed the new white canopy roof with the correct chrome trim. Bob also refurbished the original rally wheels and the period correctcenter hubs. B F Goodrich Wide Ovals are mounted on the rims. A new engine and A/C wiring harness were installed. At that time a new headlight wiring harness with inline fuseprotectionwas installed having theheadlightsrun directly of the battery not thealternator. (brighter running lights and no dimming while waiting for red lights). A newrearwing was added/ installed on the trunk. It has power disc brakes(complete brake job last year). Power steering (New in Jan 2015 pump, eservoir, ines and belt),alternato, ew matched NAPA engine belts .New front control arm bushings, all joints and tie rods, way bars wererebuiltusing a "PST" parts kit, lso changed and repacked all four wheel bearings and new "U" joints were installed. New "reproduction period correct Mopar shocks"installed. After the underneath work was completed the front end was aligned. Interior heater core changed and heater box was rebuilt with all newDetroitgaskets also replace the heater hoses. The chrome bumpers are original and in very good shape, he other chrome around the windows and windshield is all original and looks good but could use some refinishing for a brighter shine. The glass on all of the car is original from the windshield to the mirrors. It even still has the Chrysler air temp sticker for the cars that was equipped with air conditioning.Thefactoryradiator waspulledin 2012 and sent to Texas for a complete overhaul andre-coreto mopar 1972 specs and whenre-installed with new top and bottomradiatorhoses. Preston 50/50 antifreeze added. The oil has been changed three times since I have owned it and I use MOBIL ONEsyntheticfor highmileagevehicles, ith WIX oil filter. The radio isoriginalto the car and still works. The rear speakers have been changed, ut I have theoriginalrear speakers. They need to bere coned. I also have the frame on restoration pictures of the frame on body work and paint completed by thepreviousowner. It will go to the winning bidder of the car.
The Fender tag reads N86 R35 V9W 26 END M21 M31 N23 N41 N42 511 G37 H51 J25 J45 J42 FE5 U B41 B51 C16 C56 FE5 D6XW EW1 424 1953C4 E86 D34 RM23 U26 192478
The FLAWS: The rear window has about a 4 inch scratch on the passenger side. The air conditioning system is all there and still uses Freon 12. It is notcurrentlyworking because of a leak somewhere in the system. I have charge it with Freon 12 and thecompressorruns and it cools for about 30-40minutes, hen the low pressure switchshutdownsthe compressor. The heater needs a water heater valve switch and cable that is mounted on the right fender wall whichcontrol'sthe water flow direction of heater and A/C ($139.00 from classic air). Every now and then the speedometer acts up when you are above 70 MPH. I can't figure it out the speedometer was rebuilt and the speedometer cable was changed about 8 moths ago. The drivers side outside mirror has about a 5 inch scratch in the glass. The interior rear view mirror has ashadowin the glass. Driver side roof drip railing has a ding in it.
The car was stored in my garageuntilDecember of last year. Due torenovations of myhouse I lost my garage storage. The car is now under my attached covered patio with two car covers.
