Description

1973 Plymouth ‘Cuda

A true 1 owner car! 79,715 original miles!

Being offered for sale to the public for the first time ever is this beautiful blue 1973 Plymouth Barracuda! I am helping the original owners sell this car. I do not own it! I will be in direct contact with them throughout the auction. You are buying the car from the original owners!

This 1973 Plymouth Barracuda was purchased brand new on January 4, 973 by Mr. and Mrs. Dixon. Mrs. Dixon walked into P.M.F Motors Corp. on November 25, 972 and ordered her brand new Cuda straight from Detroit. At the time, he recalls it was between a new Dart and a new Cuda. They took delivery of the car on January 4, fter paying a whopping $3,750.59. The couple traded in their 1963 Pontiac Tempest, nd never looked back. Since the Barracuda, hey have been an all Chrysler family. The car has lived with the family in the city of Philadelphia since day one. It was painted 20-25 years ago, nd put in storage with the Dixon’s enjoying it sparingly on nice weather days. Mr. Dixon can confirm that the car hasn’t seen snow in over 30 years.

Body:

This car has lived in a northeastern climate all its life. It was fortunate enough to be stored in a climate controlled garage and saved from rust. There is NO rust anywhere on this car. The 20+ year old paint job still shines bright. It is stored in a heated garage under a car cover. The pictures were taken after pulling the car out. I did not wash or wax it. The body has some dings and chips scattered around. The bumpers are original and 43 years old. The chrome isn’t as presentable as it was brand new, ut it still shines. The floor plans are clean. The trunk pan was replaced with a brand new one when the car was painted. The vinyl top was also replaced when the car was painted and is in excellent shape. The grille is in beautiful shape! The panels lin I would call this car a great 10 footer, erfect to drive and enjoy.

Engine/Mechanical:

Mr. Dixon replaced the original 318 around the same time he had the car repainted. With that being said, his is one of the smoothest running engines I have ever been around. You can put a full glass of water on the air cleaner and it will not spill over. I was fortunate enough to take the car around a few blocks and it drives straight and true. It doesn’t wander on the road. It has great pickup for a small v8. The brakes are power drums, ut they stop decent. Mr. and Mrs. Dixon recalled back to 1974-75 when they had to replace a defective master cylinder in this car. They stated “We love Chrysler, ut they had their problems!” Since the car has been in storage, r. Dixon would start the car every few months. He would also take it around a couple of blocks once or twice a year. The last oil change was in 2012. He went back to change it in 2013, ut the owner of the shop refused since he only put 2 miles on it from the previous sticker. The transmission, nd rear end are both original to the car. The tires have low miles on them, ut also have age. They are not cracked or dry rotted.

Interior:

When the car was repainted, he Dixons had the seats redone. They also replaced the carpet. The dash needs replacing. It has cracked over the years. All of the gauges work properly. The radio has been upgraded to a modern unit, ut the original comes with the car.

Overall, his is a great example of an original Cuda. This has to be one of the last original owner Cudas remaining. A car like this doesn’t come up for sale often. The Dixon’s have a bunch of stories about this car. While taking it for a spin, e was adamant about “not owning junk.” This car is not junk. It is a great classic car ready for new owners to enjoy. They are selling it because it mostly sits in the storage garage, nd rent isn’t cheap. They don’t drive the car like they used to.

The car is available to inspect in person but arrangements have to be made. Please e-mail with questions or additional information. A non refundable $200 deposit is due with 48 hours of the auctions close. I reserve the right to end the auction early.
