1968 Plymouth Road Runner
This is a unique and special car! I located this cool Road Runner about three years ago in a small garage in the Pocono Mountains in PA. It was stored there and owned by the second owner who had known the car since it was nearly new. Early on the original owner hadlived nearby himand he would see the car from time to time and stop by to chat with the original owner and occasionally ask to buy it. This went on for years and then finallyone day he was able to talk him out of it. By the time the original owner was ready to sell the car it had only accumulated 24K miles and the paint and body was showing its age a bit (see "before" pic). The car was stored most of the time and not driven a whole lot ever so the mileage stayed low. The interiorwas in excellent original condition andit is still almost all original. The engine and trans had never been out of the car. The paint was faded and a little bit ofrust had started down low in the quarters and the fuel system wasstarting to gum up. When the second owner bought it in the early '90's he put it in his garage with the hopes to revive it and drive it some day butthere it sat until 2012. That is when I found it andthe second owner was ready to let it go because he could see that he was never going to finish his plans to make it a nice driver again. So, traveled out to PA and trailered it backto find it a new home. I sold it almost immediately when I got home to it's third owner. Over the next year the new ownerhad it repainted and replaced the bumpers, ires, hocks, dual exhaust system, brakes, uned it up and made a beautiful driver out if it. He showed it and took it on local cruises over the last couple of years. Well, life recently changed for himand he justdecided that it was time to let it go... so I bought it back. And here it is!
It is an ALL NUMBERS MATCHING original 383 HP with the 727 automatic trans, ower steering, .54 axle package car, lack out performance hood treatment, ight package, M radio, heavy duty cooling 26" radiator, P1 Red with a Silver and Black interior. The factory originalengine and transmissionhave never been out of the car andoperate just as good as they did back in the day! The trunk floor is rust free and all original and mostly original paint. The interior is nearly all original still! The ash tray and lighter have never been used, the glove box liner is original, he dash pad is perfectand it's allin fantastic condition. The body was blocked out to be nearly perfectly straight and the little lower rust it hadwas correctly metal repaired and nowlooks like new. The underside is rust free and super clean. The car was painted correctly withsingle stage Red and looks absolutely beautiful! It rides on the same vintage American Racing slotted mag wheels that were on it from back in the '60's with new tires of course. It comes with a brand newPST front end rebuild kit and washer bottle for under the hood. I have the original bumpers, riginal master cylinderand theoriginal distributer.
