Description
Here you go, very, ery rare one. It is a 1955 Pontiac Starchief Catalina Coupe. It is Pontiac's top of the line for 1955. It is a 2 door hardtop with the 287 cubic inch V/8 with a 2 bbl carb. It is the original engine and transmission and rear end. It has power steering and power brakes. The motor runs very nice, as an exhaust leak on the right hand side. Previous owner had by passed the manual fuel pump and ran an electric one. We replaced the old electric pump with ours and ran fuel into a jug so as to not draw from the unknown in the fuel tank.A couple pats of the gas pedal and hit the key and it fires right up. It pulls in all gears with no delay and the power steering work very good. The paint looks kind of bad but this is one solid bodied 1955 GM car. The trunk floor is excellent with a minor pin hole in the bottom of the spare tire well. The trunk seal metal lip on the body is solid and the trunk lid in solid and no rot in the lid.The rear bumper is there and will need straightening and re-chroming. The inner and outer rockers are solid as well as the bottoms of the fenders. The top of the fenders or "eyebrows" are solid and have never been repaired. The hood is solid as well. The inside floor are there and will need front floor pans for sure and they are readily available on E-bay. All the stainless is there and in excellent condition. The right rear quarter panel piece has a small curve in it at the vary back end by the taillight. The dash is solid and I have the radio that goes with the car. The windshield is excellent as well as the rear glass. Side windows are all there but will need to be replaced as the have separated in the corners and bottoms. Under the hood: engine has the original Pontiac valve covers on it, he carb works well but could use a rebuild, e put a new set of V/8 GM plug wires on it, leaned the plugs, iled the points, ooked up a fuel source and fired her up, moked for a minute and cleared up. No knocking or any ugly noises. Inner fender panels are good, little rust by the battery box. Severe rust in the splash pan in front of the radiator and I have a picture of it. All front bumper and grill pieces are there and re-storable. The left front brake was froze up so we removed the shoes and hardware and they are in the car. It runs and drives-just won't stop until all the brakes are redone. As far as the interior: wow the seat frames are awesome, eal solid and not rusty junk. So the seat are all re-storable. The headliner needs complete redone but all the bows and trim are there. So, f you are looking for a car that you can pull up beside a 1955 Chevrolet Belair Coupe and give him a run for his money, ere you go. This Starchief is on the long wheel base chassis, articular to the Starchief, hat's what gives it the long sleek look. I have my own flatbed wrecker and can make a delivery up to a certain distance for a fare fee. I just can't make any long, ong hauls. I own a business and can't take off that long. Get with me and we can discuss it. If you have any further questions on the car, on't hesitate to contact me about it and I will get an answer for you. There is no title as Georgia did not require them back then but if you deal in old cars in the US you know with a notarized bill of sale works and that is what you will get on a Georgia State Bill of Sale Form T7.
