Description

Few will argue that the 1967 Pontiac GTO is not a gorgeous car. Even among GTO fans, he '67 stands out as a high water mark in terms of styling. This sleek hardtop has been beautifully restored from top to bottom and offers several desirable options and upgrades that earn it a spot on most enthusiasts' short list of cars to own before they die. Originally code T, ontego Cream, he restorer wisely chose to keep it that way to create an unusual GTO that stands out from all the red and blue cars out there. The result is an unusual and super clean Goat that speaks very softly and carries a big stick. If the most famous muscle car of all time could be considered a sleeper, his might be it. But a low profile doesn't mean this one didn't get restored right. Quite the opposite, n fact. With a low-profile color, t's the detail and the quality that make it stand out, rom the laser-straight quarter panels, o the panel gaps, o the restored trim and badges, his car is all about getting the little stuff right. Up front the stacked headlights and split grille are Pontiac trademarks, ith wire mesh inserts that recall European sports cars that inspired the GTO. In back, re-chromed bumper and slotted taillights leave no question about the car's identity, ven though Pontiac kept the GTO badges subtle. Heck, here's not even a vinyl roof to make this one jump out at you, nd for many of us, hat low-key look is insanely appealing. The black interior is an excellent choice when contrasting with the blue exterior, nd gives the car a purposeful look that's the epitome of Pontiac's blend of style and performance. According to the cowl tag, his is an original bucket seat/console car, nd the seats have been masterfully reupholstered using materials that match the originals for texture and pattern. Both the carpets and dash pad are brand new and the door panels are excellent. Other cool options include that trick "his-and-hers" shifter, old factory A/C, nd a factory AM radio that's probably overdue for replacement. The woodgrain dash appliques are in good condition with no peeling or fading (they are, fter all, ust decals), nd the deep dish steering wheel is a perfect representation of the '60s; surely you already have a pair of string-back driving gloves, ight? The trunk is neat and simple, ith a correct mat and full-sized spare with a matching cover. The engine is the original, umbers-matching 400 cubic inch V8, nd has been rebuilt to stock specs, lthough we suspect there's an upgraded cam inside. Detailed with Pontiac Turquoise paint on the block and chrome valve covers, t keeps a low profile that will satisfy purists but delivers the kind of punch that even today's drivers will find impressive. Both power steering and power brakes are part of the package, aking this a very user-friendly Goat that can do it all. The great-sounding engine feeds a bulletproof TH400 3-speed automatic and 12-bolt rear differential with a 2.93 Saf-T-Track limited slip inside. The suspension has been fully rebuilt, he floors are in good shape, nd the cackling Flowmaster exhaust has just the right attitude for the '60s' most famous muscle car. Pretty factory Rally II wheels always look great, nd the 235/60/15 BFGoodrich radials complete the sleeper look. There are plenty of GTOs out there, ut not many capture this one's clean look, otent powerplant, nd outstanding pedigree, ll documented with the proper PHS papers.
