Rare 4 Speed GT- very hard to find and loads of fun to drive
Loaded- sun roof, igh end original radio with cassette (the one where you can skip to the song you like), lectric windows, lectric door locks, peakers in the seats, ruise control, asically all the options you could get with the '85 GT.
6 cylinder 2.8 liter engine
This car is very fast and lots of fun to drive. All of the GTs I see are automatics which to me are no fun at all. I bought this car in 1986 and have owned it ever since. I have paid thousands of dollars in maintenance and repairs on this car over the past 30 years. I had all the receipts and made the mistake of bringing them into the house. If I locate them, hey will go with the car. I know it cost over $500 to fix the original radio when it broke, nd over $800 to fix a leak in the a/c. The O2 sensor was replaced, t has good tires, nd had exhaust work done a few years ago (that being said, t is a little loud but I like it like that).
The headlights go up and down on this car! They have never been stuck up as so often happens on these cars.
Brand new Bosch battery (cost $138)
It needs cosmetic attention. The paint is original and the car has spent its life outside. There are some cracks and wear, specially on the ground effects (the black piece inside the car is a replacement piece for the cracked ground effect on one side). The seats are dryrotted in spots (there are seat covers on them). I do have a replacement seat in my storage area which I will pull out and send off with the car if you want it. There is a lot of wear on the paint and many little spots here and there on the body that need to be fixed. The body is made of Enduraflex so it is actually rather strong (remember the bowling ball commercial where the bowling ball bounced off the Fiero?) but over the years, other Nature has been at it, he ground effects and badging which are not Enduraflex especially. There is a loose hinge on the trunk which likes to poke through. Please see photos and realize that this has spent its life outside.
That being said, t has always been a second car and is not something that was left in a backyard somewhere. It has made many trips to the shore in Cape May county and has driven the Skyline Drive in Virginia several times (really fun) as well as being the car I took to work about half the time (as mentioned previously, t was always a 2nd fun car). Highway driving only (and suburbs); I do not drive in cities.
The car was on the regular insurance and passed inspection every year until I put it on classic plates 3 years ago as we were not using it that much because we wanted to restore it. It was only driven occasionally at that point, aybe once every few months. We put Seafoam in it and last time I had it out, t sputtered a bit until I got it out on the highway and it started zooming around. However, he gas is old. I filled it 3 years ago and have been using the same gas for all that time as it never goes very far anymore. It always started until last time I went to start it and it refused. I got a new Bosch battery for it and still it did not want to start (best battery I could find with a great warranty). I had a retired mechanic come look at it to see if he could get it running. He did have it running briefly but it would not stay running. He said that it needs a new fuel pump. Since the fuel pump is in the gas tank, e could not fix it without a lift. At least it was diagnosed by a professional and not by someone guessing what is wrong.
The car will need to be towed or put on a flatbed since it needs a new fuel pump. The GT would make a great project car if you are good with body work as I would be really surprised if once the fuel pump is replaced, ou are not zipping around all over. The 6 cylinder 2.8 liter engine in a car this small and light makes it extremely fast and fun. We are moving to Florida and cannot take the car with us. We already have 4 cars that are moving with us so we do not need another one, specially one that needs restoration.
Non-smoking car. It has never been smoked in ever.
It is sitting on the street where I last parked it before the fuel pump went bad so it should easy to tow. The Atlantic City Car Show & Auction is in a few weeks and I know that you can always get good deals on car hauling at that time because there are a lot of trucks going home empty. We are about 40 minutes from Atlantic City. We are at Exit 23 on Route 295 (23 miles from the Delaware memorial Bridge and Delaware), s well as probably 10-15 minutes from the Walt Whitman and Benjamin Franklin Bridges (Philadelphia and SE PA). Baltimore is about 90 miles away (about 75 minutes).
Car sold as-is with no warranty. At this point, s far as I know, t needs only a fuel pump and cosmetic restoration but since it is 31 years old, cannot be responsible for anything else that may go/has gone wrong with it since I parked it months ago. The engine is strong, t shifts well, nd the brakes do not have many miles on them but the car has not been used very often in the past 3 years.
Clear title.Pick-up only or you arrange for transportation. Remember that it will not run as it needs a fuel pump.
