1935 Pontiac Deluxe Six

Bone stock example
Low original miles
Books and records

Usually impossible to find, ere up for bids is this all-stock '35 Pontiac Deluxe Six Coupe. The 3-window coupes are especially rare, nd if you do manage to find one, hey've often been hot-rodded to a shadow of their former self. This is a Canadian built Pontiac (won't say rare again) that was restored as needed over the course of 2 decades by a passionate enthusiast. On his passing in 2007 it joined a significant collection in Vancouver BC. I bought and imported the car into the US last month and have applied for its first ever US title.

The car has had 5 owners (including myself), he 3rd owner bought the car in 1984 with 60,184 original miles on it, t now has 92,074. He had the car repainted in 1994 in its original color. The paint is very nice but shows a few minor age related flaws, mall chips, tc. The body is extremely straight and produces optical quality reflections. No rust issues or signs of previous repair, he car is very solid. The tires were bought in 1989 and have about 27K miles on them. They still show good tread but if you plan on doing any long distance touring you'd want to replace them due to their age.

This car was featured in Amazon's current TV series The Man in the High Castle, dystopian story based on the 1962 novel by Phillip K Dick.

All of the car's trim and chrome is in great shape, lthough some of the red painted accents have begun to flake at the edges. Both bumpers are straight and clean with no damage.

All of the glass is in good condition, he windshield shows just one chip up high on the driver's side. The passenger side wing window frame shows some pitting, eally only the weak spot of the car's chrome.

A passenger side tail light was optional in '35, he lens has a crack if you look closely. Driver's side is mint. Both headlights and fender running lights are in terrific shape.

The iconic waterfall grill is straight and in beautiful condition. The passenger side foglamp lens has a crack and is not working, he driver's side still does.

Clean and correct interior with recovered seats and door panels. Rear mat is original, ront is a replacement. Both doors open and close precisely.

All of the gauges work correctly and show good consistent readings. Horn works, ipers work, nd a transistor radio hidden under the dash is connected and controlled by an old original faceplate.

The original oil cloth curtains behind the seat reveal the spare and original jacking equipment.

Headliner is in great condition and appears to be original. The car comes with a nice assortment of brochures and original manuals.

The 3rd owner kept a diary that chronicled his tenure with the car from 1984 until his passing in 2007. I sat down one evening and read it cover to cover, ot only does it list out all of the mechanical and cosmetic work that was performed, ut really tells the story of one man's relationship with his machine. This owner was a unique individual, erving with the Royal Canadian Air Force in WWII, hot down over Belgium, nd afterwards joining the Vancouver police force and rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant.
As they say, The Greatest Generation".
Here's a synopis of the major service the car received under his ownership:
Purchase: 1984, 0K miles
Clutch, ransmission rebuilt in 1986, long with new brakes, ingpins, ierods and rebuilt lever shocks at 63K miles
Complete engine rebuild in 1988
Rear end rebuilt in 1990
Carb overhaul in 1991
Repaint in 1994
Mileage noted as 80K in 1999
New wiring harness in 2002
Mileage noted as 87K in 2003
Mileage noted as 91K in 2006
Mileage noted as 91,958 on 10-25-07, he last entry
Also written in the diary is information on the car's first owner, bservations about car culture, endors and clubs, s well as the repeated phrase: "Pontiac runs great, s usual"
This Pontiac still does run very well, tarts easily and produces good power with no smoke. I do like to let the ol' gal warm up a bit before hitting the road, nd you'll need to know how to double clutch. She rides down the road straight and square, rakes well but tends to veer a bit under heavy braking. The car's wiring has been replaced with a period correct cloth harness from front to back. A 6V alternator was installed while the car was being used for filming (brighter headlights) but the original generator is included. Transmission shifts well and the car basically motors along like she did in 1935.

The engine is matching numbers as per the data plate. The car comes with a small assortment of spare parts.

Very nice original undercarriage with no patching or signs of damage, ust an 81 year old survivor that's still going strong.
