Up for auction is my 1986 Pontiac Fiero GT. This is a California survivor, ne of the last GT's not chopped up by a kit builder or wrapped around a tree by some kid. I would call this a "driver grade" car or a solid starting point for a restoration. It has a clean title, strong running motor (just easily passed the onerous California SMOG inspection), solid shifting transmission, ight steering, ew brake pads all around and all accessories including the headlights work flawlessly. The previous owner stated the motor wasprofessionallyrebuilt, ut I have no way of verifying this without the receipts. The motor does appear cleaner than the rest of the car and the mounts appear fresh.
It has very few (and very minor) mechanical issues which I will detail here:
1. The gas gauge only goes up to 1/4 tank even when topped off. The needle sits at 1/4 until the fuel level drops below 1/4 then it reads accurately until reaching empty.2. The door key broke off in the driver side door lock and half the key is still in the lock.3. Very faint ticking in the motor when cold and it goes away once warmed up. Almost too minor to mention, ut I want to play it safe. Probably wouldn't even be noticed if the motor wasn't right behind your head.4. A very small crack in the windshield corner so small I only recently spotted it.
Cosmetic condition:
Exterior: Overall the car is in solid shape with no outward signs of any damage or repairs. The are two cracks pictured in this listing: One on the lower panel in front of the right rear tire, nd one in the back bumper. The paint is weak at best. It appears that the factory paint faded from sun exposure and some previous owner tried to fix it with spray paint and possibly even a foam roller in a couple spots. There are scratches and paint cracks and over buffing marks all over the car, s well as peeling clear coat on the front bumper. I would give the paint a 3/10. Three points for being all the same color, o flaking or exposed body panels, nd it still shines and looks decent from 20 feet away.
Interior: NO SMELLS. It does appear the ash trays and lighter were used in the past, ut as of now there are no odors. The carpet is as you would expect for the age and miles; old and dingy, ut not stained or torn. It just doesn't show like new. The seats are rough. The passenger seat is torn and the drivers seat appears to be from a different make and model car, hough it functions well and is comfortable. The rest of the interior is solid. The plastic pieces in particular are in great shape with no major wear or missing pieces. The steering wheel has the original leather as does the shift knob. This car came with factory premium speakers including a small sub under the passenger dash. This car is fitted with an aftermarket CD player with AM/FM and AUX jack, nd a home made aluminum dash insert so it fits well in the larger opening left by the factory stereo. Replacing the seats and buying some floor mats wouldabsolutely transform this interior!

PS: If you are 16 or a single mother of two please read this (I feel this isnecessary after fielding a bunch of dumb questions when I listed itlocally): This is a 1986 Pontiac Fiero. It weighs 2,800 lbs anddoesn't have power steeringor airbags, r ABS or traction control. You can't rely on it to get you to you job and your classes 60 miles apart every day or you will wear it out. Its hard to steer at slow speed and the brakes feel heavier than a modern car. IT HAS ONLY TWO SEATS, nd the engine is in the back. That means the weight is in the back. It wont just fish tail if you go too fast around the corner in the rain IT WILL SPIN OUT INSTEAD, ith no on-boardcomputer to save you. Your insurance company knows this car, nd at your age, hey wont like it. This is a toy to enjoy as a second car, ot you primary can and especially not something you should rely on for work....its 30 years old and built by GM. If you understand all this, id away!
