Description

We want the car to sell in this auction. This car has a low Reserve to protect some of its value. If the Reserve is not met, e will work with the high bidder to make the sale.

You are bidding on a all-original, umbers-matching, RUE 1968 Pontiac GTO Convertible 400ci/TH400. This is a “Project/Restoration vehicle” and will need total restoration. This is a BASE GTO, urchased by the 2nd owner in 1981 and driven until it was parked in 1986. The car has a 400ci motor, H400 transmission, S, B, onsole, ucket seats and convertible top. This car does roll easily and has original dealer paperwork, rotect-O-Plate and clean title!

Again this is a project/restoration vehicle! It is all original with what it was born with except for the tires. It does not run. The last time it ran was when it was parked. At that time it was in perfect running order. The drivetrain is the original numbers-matching units. Headers were installed in the past and the factory exhaust manifolds are in the back seat.

The car sat in a damp garage since 1986 and this caused a lot of scale and rust on the car. Most of the exterior sheet metal will need to be replaced except for the hood and trunk lid. Floors and trunk are still solid as are the trunk drop-offs, nnerwells and wheel houses. Most of the stainless is restorable but the chrome trim items will need to be replaced. Glass is good and doors, ood and trunk all open and close easily. Wiring still looks all factory and not cut up.

Most of the interior is nice and usable. Most will need cleaning and some items need to be replaced. Console, ash, ash pad, nd steering wheel all appear to be in good condition with no cracks. Seats are ok but the padding is gone and there is a rip in the head rests. Not sure what works electrically since no battery has been hooked up. I’m not going to either - that will be left to the new owner. The car was in perfect operation when parked. The convertible top frame and mechanism appear to be in good condition. The original top is separating at the seams and it has a glass window which is in good shape.

The car undercarriage is good and bad. The frame is rusted out in a few locations but a beautiful mint 68 Pontiac GTO Convertible rolling frame (minus wheels) goes with it. The owner had planned to have it restored years ago but work and other events delayed this so it was just stored away.

Comes with keys, riginal dealer paperwork, rotect-O-Plate and clear Ohio title.
