Here is an exceptionally clean 1970 Pontiac GTO. This awesome muscle car features its original 455 power plant and its original Turbo 400 heavy duty automatic transmission. Both the engine and transmission were completely rebuilt during the restoration.
This GTO underwent a complete frame off restoration, nd has only been driven 422 miles since completion. As you can see from the photos; the restoration took a considerable amount of time and money to complete. This car runs and drives even better than it did in 1970.
The correct Grenada Gold exterior paint is absolutely beautiful. The base coat / clear coat was laid professionally in a dust-free paint booth, nd truly looks stunning. Feel free to look up and down the sides of this Goat; they are as straight as the day it was new. All the door gaps are some of the best I have seen. The correct Sandalwood cordova top is in excellent condition, nd really looks great!
The numbers matching 455 V8 was re-built during the restoration and runs very strong. There are absolutely no issues with the drivetrain at all. This is a very, ery strong running muscle car.
The Turbo 400 automatic transmission was also completely rebuilt during the restoration. The car shifts up and down through the gears just the way it should with no issues, nd transfers the power to the 12 bolt posi rear end.
Every part within the suspension has been either replaced or re-bushed. The car steers perfectly straight down the road, nd takes the bumps with ease!
The Goat features an all new interior and is finished in the correct Sandalwood colors that it came with originally. There is absolutely zero wear on any of the interior surfaces. The steering wheel and tilt column, ash, eadliner, oor panels, arpet and gauges are in excellent shape. This is a factory A/C car that recently had the entire A/C system re-built. It is safe to say the “the air blows cold”!
This car is about as flawless as a 1970 production car. Take a close look at the photos, nd you can see the detail. This is a completely rust-free car that originated in California, nd still retains all of its original sheet metal. The only flaw I can find is some very small cracking on the Endura nose which is extremely common on these cars.
This awesome Pontiac comes with the Original Build Sheet, riginal Owner’s Manual, ull PHS Documents, s well as receipts.
For the 1970 model year the GTO; the old Goat took on a whole new look. Styling changes included a total Endura nosepiece with split oval grilles and dual headlamp housings (this new design eliminated the optional hide-away headlamps), reased body sides, different rear-bumper and tail lamps, nd exhaust pipes that exited through a valance panel under the rear bumper. The hood-mounted tachometer and the Rally II wheels remained as available options.
The base engine for the 1970 GTO was a four-barrel carbureted 400 rated at 350 hp. Other available engines were the 400 cubic inch Ram Air III and 400 cubic inch Ram Air IV. The Ram Air III was rated at 366 hp and the Ram Air IV was rated at 370 hp. With GM finally lifting the 400 cubic inch corporate engine limit for the intermediate-size cars, ew to the 1970 GTO option list was a 455 cubic inch engine rated at 360 hp.
