Description

Up for auction is my stunning 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT. I had just purchased this beauty earlier this year, and had every intention of keeping it for a long time as my fun little show car/long-term investment car. Then as fate would have it, my absolute Dream Car (ever since I was a teenager) came up for sale just a few miles from me and I just HAD to buy it. After all, a "once in a lifetime" opportunity is just that. Space is too limited for me to keep both and I won't let either one sit outside, so my Fiero GT is up for sale. Since you are reading this listing, It's probably safe to assume that you know some Fiero History. I don't need to go into the details of how unique and revolutionary the Fiero was. And most of you know that the '88 model year is the most desirable of the 5-year Fiero run due mostly to the completely new front and rear suspensions and improved braking system (Pontiac FINALLY trash-canned the Chevette and Citation based suspensions), but also due to the lower production numbers and some "one-year only" options/features. One of those "one-year only" options was the factory Yellow color. Often called Talbot Yellow or Bright Yellow, this mid-year introduction color was given to only 241 Fiero GT's, making it the lowest production numbered GT color combination. When you then look at this particular example, and the options that it has, one can begin to see just how unique this Fiero really is.
  • This one is an Automatic Transmission, and only 45% of '88 GT's were Automatics.
  • This one is the "plain roof" (meaning no sunroof or T-Tops), and only 34% of '88 Gt's had the plain roof.
  • This one has the Power Lumbar option (something that only 31 of the 241 Yellow Gt's had).
  • This one also has the Performance Sound System.

The exact number of Fiero's built like this one is unknown, however with the numbers thatwe DO know, it is certain that this Fiero is 1 of very, very, very few ever made like it. But all those numbers and it's rarity isn't even the best part. This Fiero GT Runs/Drives/ and Looks absolutely fantastic (inside and out). Many additional pictures are available, 32,xxx original miles and it looks and drives like it. Originally a Florida car, it spent most of it's life owned by well-known Fiero collector Paul Stevens in Pennsylvania. When I bought it earlier this year, I had it transported to me (enclosed) from Pennsylvania to my home state of Wisconsin. An extremely well-cared for car that I was told had always been stored inside. The only thing I've done to it since I bought it was changed it's oil/filter (Valvoline Synthetic). It's been a pleasure to drive in my short ownership and always gets a lot of looks. I've owned A LOT of cars in my life (over 70) and I can honestly say that none of them have attracted as much attention as this Fiero does. It is Definitely not the car to own if you prefer to go un-noticed. These Fiero's are starting to generate much more collector interest of late, and as the '88 models approach the 30 year old mark, we can expect the values to continue to climb. This Fiero has all the right stuff to be a great investment car: the right year, the right color, the right equipment, low miles, and in fabulous condition. When I bought the Fiero, I contacted my Collector Car Insurance Company (Hagerty). Using dozens of photos, description, and market research, they assigned a guaranteed value to the car of $15,000 (which is the amount I have it insured for). If there is anything at all that needs to be addressed, it would be two minor things: The first is the A/C. It blew really cold air when I first got the car, now it blows "cool" air, but not cold like it did. I will try to recharge the system for the next owner.The second thing is that the two passenger side (right side)stereo speakers aren't very good. The dash speaker is very muted and the rear (sail panel) speaker has no sound coming from it at all. I do have "new in box" speakers (one for the dash and one for the rear) that came with the car when I bought it. These new speakers will come with the car. It never bothered me enough during my short ownership to tear into it. And speaking of "stuff" that comes with the car, there are several trophies from past shows that the car won, the owner's manual, a copy of the window sticker, a 3-ring binder of various Fiero info, and a copy of a Fiero magazine that featured this very Fiero on it's cover during Paul Steven's ownership, and more. Serious buyers are welcome to ask questions, or request additional pictures. I also highly recommend any potential buyer to come see the car in person (or hire a 3rd party classic Car Inspection Service to come see the car). I'd be happy to show the car to you, we can even take it for a drive and see for yourself the attention it gets. I try to capture the car as best I can with photos, but all the photos in the world can't take the place of seeing it in person. I myself would not hesitate to hop in the Fiero and drive it all the way across the country, it runs and drives that well.
