Description

1961 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible 4Spd Tri-Pwr 8 lug

This awesome car was custom ordered near Minneapolis and was frame off restored in 2006-07. When did you last see a 61 "Bonneville" 4 Speed documented,let alone a convertible? The car will be on display @ the Telluride Concours 9/28-10/2.

This Numbers Matching PHS verified engine is the 318HP “C4” with its original “Tri-Power” Carbs and HD air-cleaner. Not only does the VIN# match, but also the Pontiac Inventory#- -both shown on the PHS inventory card. Runs great with its factory “Dual Exhaust” and was enhanced with 1968 “HO” D port headers- -for that crisp Pontiac sound.

It gets better!! The car is also PHS manifested with the early Warner Gear -long tail-shaft T10-1B “4 Speed”. The car is so authentic that the original transmission “Spec” tag is still attached and boasts the original manual transmission back-up light switch. {per questions- -evidently the oversized "8" stamped on the engine pad between "C & 4" showed this to be a 4 speed car @ assembly time,Rev 9-9}

The car was ordered for Maximum power without Power Steering, Brakes or AC. Then, as the PHS card shows, the very desirable 8 lug HD brakes were added. As an added bonus, from the factory this car had the “Saf-T-Trac” rear end and a great 3:23 axle ratio for only 1900 RPM @ 55 MPH. (my mistake, I said 70 earlier)

The body tag shows that the Excellent exterior paint is the correct “H-4” Tradewind Blue with Blue Top & #253 Silver-Ivory-Blue Interior.

To top it all off, very scarce and operational 1961 Tachometer and Vacuum Gauges are installed as per Pontiac Dealer Sheet #543267 of 12/61 on the hump above the 4 speed. Plus, it boasts an original Pontiac tissue dispenser & Jac Pac air shocks with compressor & controller. {per questions- -the GM Jac Pac compressor is the silver object @ front of pass fender well, Rev 9/9}

I have put over 1,600 miles on this car the last couple years and it is just fabulous to drive. The 28:1 steering gear compensates for the lack of power steering.

This is a “Very” well documented car and you won’t be disappointed. Includes original manuals, fleet folder, advertisements, shop manuals and ownership history. It doesn’t get any better for an Iconic early 60’s Pontiac powerhouse.
