The car absolutely stunning in photos and even more so in person. The very low original mileage is verified not only by the condition of the car. but also the clear Ohio title. pictured below. that states the mileage as "Actual. quot; plus several dated documents proving the mileage is correct. Please peruse all of the photos. numbers. video. and information below to get a true sense of clean and nice this Trans Am really is. Please note that this Trans Am is completely numbers matching. Also stamped on the engine block is the code "XZ. " This is the correct code for a 1976 Trans Am with a 400ci engine and later build date. which is all correct for this car. The transmission is also numbers matching with the last 6 digits of the VIN stamped on the main case and pictured below. All of the paint and interior trim codes and numbers are correct for the car. The turn signals were moved again. this time from the front grilles to the lower bumper. The grilles themselves were revised with a honeycomb design replacing the horizontal slats. New Interiors:Both the standard and custom interiors were redesigned for 1976. The standard interior seats would remain virtually unchanged (except for minor alteration) until 1981. The custom interior still featured horse-collar type seats but with a new pattern. On the dash a new Rosewood appliqué was used on the dashboard on non-Trans Am models. replacing the African Crossfire Mahogany of 1975. Body Color Rally II Wheels:The Rally II Wheel could now be ordered with background colors matching the car's exterior color. This was seemingly a subtle change in the option list but cars so equipped were striking in appearance. condition Exterior The Firethorn exterior is in excellent condition with amazing paint and decals. The way this car shows is a testament to the care this car has received over 39 years of pampered ownership. As one can see in the photos. the paint has an awesome gloss. dazzling shine. and smooth finish. The trim and decals are in amazing condition with no fading or peeling. The factory original spot welds are still visible in the wheel wells and pictured below. Often Trans Am's will have particularly chipped up front ends; this car does not. The low front spoiler. which is very fragile and prone to damage. is in excellent condition as one can see in the photos. Both bumpers are in excellent shape with no flaking paint or spider web cracks with the exception of one small blemish on the left front corner. There is a specific photo of the area below. The factory Rally wheels are in excellent condition with no curb rash and a great finish. The tires are BF Goodrich and correctly sized at 225/70/15 and have excellent tread. All of the weather stripping is in like new excellent well preserved condition. The trunk is complete. looks new. and fully detailed with spare tire. inflator canister. jack. base. and original trunk mat. Please note that many of the lenses are dated coded and original to the car. This Trans Am has a stamping on the radiator core support. which is pictured below. The core support shows a "4 6 76" stamp. or April 6. 1976. This stamping would be correct and original as it precedes the car's build date of the first week of June. 1976 (06A). As one can imagine. if this Trans Am had ever sustained even a minor front end collision this part would have been repaired or replaced. The original stamping is great to see in tact. On this Trans Am even both front fenders are original and dated from 1976. There are close up photos of the stamping from both front fenders below. The Trans Am looks in person as it does in the photos. Interior The original Firethorn Red with White interior of the Trans Am looks utterly splendid and factory new. The original seat covers show no wear in any way. are not faded in any area. and have no seam splits or stress cracks. Also. the seats are not stained. which is important with a white interior as they show dirt and can be soiled easily. The carpet is also in "like new" condition with no major stains. rips. or holes. The original dash and components look amazing and are in showroom condition. frankly it's the best dash. bezel. radio. glovebox. and gauge cluster we have ever seen in person. The original AM radio still resides in its factory position and amazingly the dash remains unaltered. Although the radio and speakers are original to the car. the radio works intermittingly. All of the gauge lenses are crisp. clear. and show no wear at all. The original door panels look excellent with no cracks or splits. and both door pulls are solid and in tact. The headliner is in great shape with no holes or stains and no sagging. The original package tray looks great with no warping. fading. or sun damage. This is the best original interior we have ever seen in person and is a true study of how these cars looked from the factory. Now factor in a mostly white original interior in this spectacular condition and you truly have something rare. This car has not been smoked in; there is no aroma of cigarettes what so ever. These Firebird interiors are not known to wear well and the excellent condition of this original interior is a testament to the meticulous care and attention this car has received throughout its life by its previous owners. The interior looks just as good in person as it does in the photos. Mechanical This Trans Am is in excellent mechanical condition and it is ready to be enjoyed. Very Importantly the original numbers matching engine still resides under the hood and is in great running condition with only 17. 18 miles on the odometer. please look at the close up picture below of the correct VIN stamp on the engine block and the transmission. In the video below one can see the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70 mph. braking to stoplight. accelerating away. and going through some curves. Please note that it shifts properly. there are no strange vibrations. and the car performs quite well overall. This Trans Am is an exceptional driver that feels great on the road and at highway speeds. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car. It starts right away every time. idles well. and runs excellent. The brakes are responsive. do not pull to one side or the other. and even the emergency brake works as it should. Amazingly the exhaust system appears to be original as well with factory catalytic converter. cross flow muffler with GM stamps. and factory splitter tips. The engine bay looks factory fresh and all original engine components are detailed and in place as they came from the factory. Even all of the small vacuum lines in the engine compartment are routed correctly and still feature the correct and original colored striped and coding. The flexible air induction pipe is the original and exceptionally rare factory installed unit. not some cheap plastic reproduction. The horn works as do all the interior and exterior lights. all of the gauges (with the obvious exception of the clock). wipers. and indicators. All of the factory air conditioning components are still on the car and there is a belt on the compressor. but the a/c and blower motor on the car do not work. The speedometer. odometer. oil pressure. fuel. and battery gauges all work as they should. This Trans Am has lots of power and handles amazingly. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car. Overall Condition Overall. this 1976 Trans Am survivor is in excellent award winning condition. It is a great value and we have it priced to sell. This car turns heads and gets tons of attention wherever it goes. The value of these cars has gone up exponentially in recent years. They are all solid investments for a collector or the average enthusiast. Cars like this are the Barrett Jackson and Mecum stars of the future. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort. Other sellers are not taking the time to show the car is in such great detail to give you all of the other numbers. Numbers matching is extremely important in pricing such a scarce and original car as this example and will become even more important as time passes and this car becomes older and even more rare and desirable. This information is very valuable and important for pricing.
