Description

Most likely one of the most original, nmolested, ow mileage 1967 GTO's in existence.
Now, see many of these cars that are "all original" only "one repaint". The engines have been painted, he cars are not genuinely original anymore.
Now, here do I start. Some time ago, got a call from a friend in Maine stating that a 1 owner 9,000 mile GTO convertible was for sale by a man now living in a assisted care facility. What are the odds of finding a opportunity like this again, said to myself.
Not expecting what to find I immediately booked a flight to Boston, A. rented a car and drove to Portland Maine. After sending home live Maine lobsters to family and friends, meeting was scheduled at a storage facility where the car was driven because the owners home was sold I assumed.
The garage door rolled open, nd dusty but there was a burgundy 1967 GTO Convertible, porting the original acrylic laquer burgundy paint, riginal top...and a look at the interior instantly got by blood pumping. The seats look like they were never sat in, he carpet is original and looks like a dirty shoe never touched it. The interior looked like I was looking at a 1967 Pontiac sales brochure.
A quick flip of the original key brought the car right to life, nice, uiet high idle with no smoke on start up and a healthy, erfectly balanced idle. A look under the hood confirmed my suspicions. Untouched, nmolested. Close inspection found that the engine was never taken apart, t all. Zero nothing. The heater hoses, ne belt, he carburetor, original In box), ere all that was ever touched. Date coded correct down to the alternator, nd wittek tower clamps, nd radiator. Correct YS block, UN matches billing history, ct. A look at the car by any seasoned collector would have told you this by simply looking under the hood. But, s Ronald Reagan said "trust, ut verify"
A look under the dash is like looking at a brand new car, he harnesses, ear of guages, nd radio all spectacular.
Crawling under the car yielded factory decals on almost every part, ome still legible. Floor pans, ll super solid, actory spring ring green and red clamps on the fuel lines, S steel stencil on the fuel tank confirming it had never been dropped or replaced. Closer inspection confirmed the original PX TH-400 was in place. Looking like it was never so much as had the pan removed.
I next went over the chrome and body. The left fender has a scratch about 4" long. Drivers door is beautiful, ith no major blemishes. Drivers quarter panel, ery nice. Sticking my hand in the outer wheelhouse to look for blistering in the pinchweld between the quarter and the outer wheelhouse found it to be very nice. Tail panel and trunk super solid, riginal spare and mat in place with no moisture blistering underneath as they commonly do. The passenger side quarter panel has some minor rust at the top of the stainless where some water collected. My intention was to fix this and spot blend the laquer. The passenger door, o issues, lear and defined shell to skin structure, M decal still in door. What amazed me was all the weather stripping is still soft and supple on the car, ery unusual. The passenger fender exhibits some laquer shrinkage (crows feet) basically above the pin stripe. The hood is partially laquer cracked, nd exhibits 2 small areas of missing paint. My intention was to blend the hood and the top of the passenger fender. Chrome and stainless original and pit and damage free I resealed the motor, rans, nd rear and as they all exhibited signs of seepage, nd I like things leak free.
The car runs and drives like a brand new 1967 Pontiac GTO, ar none the nicest driving GTO I've ever owned.
I rebuilt the brakes as a safety measure. The items that are not original to the car: Battery. tires. brakes, il filter, ir filter, ear shocks, muffler.
Options include power brakes, ower top, ower steering, ual gate shifter.
No, he car is not perfect, ut it's unmolested, ocumented. The car has never sat. Always started and driven around the block once a month for good measure.
car is for sale locally. Non negotiable on price. Have original title that I will transfer when YOU pay for it. It adds to the value of the car, never planned on transferring it, ut legally I have to if I sell it, ave protectoplate, ooks, ll reciepts, ct.
I didn't get this car cheap. I know what it is worth, on't bother offering less than the starting bid, ou are wasting both of our time.
