Description

This is the one Delorean envisioned fully optioned out including the options for a Rochester 4bbl and 4 speed transmission and hood tach.

From Wiki:

"In the mid 60s Pontiac executive John Delorean wanted to produce a car that could be marketed against the European sports car imports. His decision was to use the tempest and lemans chassis and build on that platform. At the heart of this package is the new overhead cam 6 cylinder engine.
This motor was revolutionary in its day because not only was it the first American mass produced overhead cam engine, ut it also was the first engine to use a reinforced rubber cam timing belt which is standard in most modern cars. The ohc-6 was used in an effort to keep the front end lighter which provides better handling and quicker steering response. Unlike the standard ohc-6 engine, he "sprint ohc-6" was outfitted with numerous factory performance upgrades.
The sprint option included a high lift-longer duration cam, ual valve springs to control valve float up to the 6500 redline, 0.5 to 1 high compression head, pecial harmonic balancer, ual exhaust manifolds (3 cyl. Each to control exhaust pulses), igh flow intake manifold, ochester Quadrajet 4 barrel carb and a v8 clutch disc and pressure plate. To complement this engine you could get the optional 4 speed trans with the special sprint gearing plus a 3.55 safe-t-track (posi) rear end, and larger redline tires. The sprint also had a special high performance suspension package and a faster turning 20 to 1 ratio manual steering gear box. Put all of this together and you have a very potent road machine. Sadly, here were relatively few sold if you wanted muscle the 326 V8 was cheaper than the Sprint package, ut the sprint was faster. John Delorean should be credited for his visionary approach in automotive design. He was just ahead of his time!"
