Description

Recent sale did not go through. I don't want to store the car for the winter so I am relisting this with a lower reserve and a"Buy it Now" price.

50 year SURVIVOR! You won’t find another one like this. 50 years ago this car started the Muscle Car revolution. This is a very original all numbers matching, 965 Pontiac GTO Hardtop Coupe. Has all proper documentation from Jim Mattison of Pontiac Historical Services. There were 55,722 of these cars produced and only 20,547 with tri-power. This car was bought in St. Paul, N originally and came to Wisconsin where I owned it back when I was in high school.

I sold it to a friend of mine in 1974. My friend had the motor rebuilt at a GM dealer in my hometown back when they had car guysthat loved working on muscle cars. He also had it painted that year with the original paint. He drove it for a few years and then sold it to another friend who only drove it occasionallyduring the summers and stored it the rest of the time. It has always been in my hometown but was never available for sale until 2003 when I was able to finally buy it back.

I have only driven it occasionally in the summers mostly to car shows and kept it stored the rest of the time. It has been driven about 10,000 miles over the past 30 years. It has 135,000 miles on it now. It has not been in any accidents. It runs and drives great. It’s time to let someone else enjoy this car.

Over the years I have resisted suggestions to restore this car. I always enjoyed parking it at a car show and watching the people coming to look at the one real “Survivor” among all the trailer queens. I havetheTHE ORIGINAL WINDOW STICKER (not a copy).

This car sold for $3,675.36 when it was new. It has all the things you would want that makes this car desirable and valuable including the 389ci V8 with 360 HP, Speed Close Ratio Synchromesh Transmission, hree Two-Barrel Carburetors, M Radio, ower Steering and Brakes, ucket Seats, nbsp;Rally Gauges, afe-T track differential and sport steering wheel.

The paint is a “good 20 footer” with beautiful patina. No dents or rust.Paint has been rubbed out a few times so the paint is getting a little thin but people love the look. It still has the original Cragar SS Spoke Mag wheels on it that were on it when I owned it in high school. I also have a set of the original Rally I wheels with red line tires that would have been original equipment. It looks great with those wheels on if you want the truly original look. The original spare tire is still in the trunk that was in there when I owned it the first time!

The interior is all original. There is a small separation at the seam on top of the driver’s seat. This is a simple fix that I just haven’t gotten around to. Otherwise the vinyl is all original and in great shape. Still has the original carpet. Dash looks great. The headliner in the rear has a little issue from agewhich I have shown in the pictures. It needs a new turn signal cancel switch but this is a pretty easy fix as well. Otherwise it's ready to head down the road for hours of pleasure!

I recently obtaineda value on the car fromHagerty on 9/8/2015; "Our latest Hagerty Price Guide lists your car in #3 “good” condition, t $49,500. Add 15% for factory 4 speed, dd 15% for factory air, nd subtract 10% if it is an automatic."

I also have had an appraisal done valuing the car at a similar number which will be included with the car at sale along with all documentationfrom Pontiac Historical Services and receipts form motor work and other repairsdone over the years.

Look at the pictures and good luck bidding!
