Description

1976 Porsche 912E

NO RESERVE

Thanks forchecking out my 1976 Porsche 912E Coupe. The 912 model started out in 1965 with the new 911, nd ended in 1969. The 912E is a one year only model, rought back in 1976. These are neatcars overlooked for many years by collectors, matter of fact all 912 cars were overlooked which makes them hard to find in today's market. From my research this isa numbers matching 912E, ou can pretty much do the math, specially on a 1 year only car, t is pretty obvious, do not have a COA on it, o do your own homework. This car was originally a very bright yellow, ode 117 Light Yellow, hich is basically almost a Fluorescent Yellow, t is a rare color on these cars. From all 912 models only 26 known to exist in the 912 registry so far, which includes 062 and B6B6 from the 1965-1969 912 run), o for 1976 even more rare. The VIN under the hood, oor jam, nd window pillar all match the Oregon Title. Engine and transmission are all early production as well. Here are the numbers, VIN:9126001037, ngine: 4061115, nd gearbox 5061034.This car does run and drive, ut it has beensitting for the last couple years, nd is desperate need ofa very good tune-up and carbsneed to be rebuilt no doubt, efore you can take it out and really drive it. It will fire right up though, tis cold blooded, the carbs popand crackle, fter it warms up a bit, ou an drive it around town, nd out on short outings, ut it needs some work to make it an everyday driver at this point. I have driven it on short 5 mile runs, ut it is not an everyday driver. It has typical oil leaks, nd seepage, ut these engines are very easy to work on, ot like the 911, nyone with Porsche/Bug/Bus experience should be able to tackle the mechanical needs to get it back up and running again. This will make someone a very good project car. I got this from a friend who was going toupgrade it toa 911 transplant, ut after he found out it was probably numbers matching and the rarity of these cars he decided against it, nd put it on the back burner. I remember seeing this car around here for the last 10 years at least before he bought it.When I first laideyes on itat the time it was the original yellow, justolder paint, ith some flaws here needing a good restoration, some paint checking, mall dings, o rust issues that I noticed etc. Then I saw it a few years later, ith some of the paint sanded off where the paint was flaking off, with some primer over those areas. That was the first time I talked to the guy about it, nd he didn't want to turn it loose. Well turned out, bout 3 years ago, hen it was really"Kool" to paint things hot rod black, is friendconvincedhim to just shoot it black, something he wished in the end that he didn't do, but so be it, t iswhat it is. The car is very solid, nd nice and straight down the sides, very good body on this one, o signs of any accidents, nside the trunk area, nder theengine cover, ll the aprons are nice and clean. Please read on if you are interested in knowing more about this 912E, here are over 100 photos below as well. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, hanks, ason 503-910-2085

CONDITION: The body is in great shape, bviously painted in primer black, ut was done over 6 years ago, o overall body looks to be in good shape. When you look down the sides, t is nice and straight, oor gaps all look pretty good, onnet and engine lid have good lines. A few small bubbles under the font of the windshield corner by cowl but fairly minor, nother couple bubbles on top of the fenders, ee pictures. On the rest of the body no signs of any rust bubbling, r issues. The engine lid, oes have some paint peeling off the back, hat you can see. Inside the wheel wells and inner tubs, ll look very good and rust free. The floors look good from underneath, nd pulled up the mats inside and they look solid as well. The nose is in good shape inside the bonnet area, nner areas look look, o rust or damage on aprons. It does get wet under the bonnet up toward the nose when it rains out, nd a little bit on the front floor boards, hough when you restore and paint it, ou will put new door gaskets, indows etc on it. The primer is older, nd has chips, cratches, cuffs on it, nd is fading some, ictures are pretty self explanatory. The glass is in good shape, o cracks, indows roll up and down. The trim, eeds to be restored over all. The rear Porsche reflector section has some broken off studs, o is not attached completely, omeone tried to glue it at some point and it did not work. Overall, ody is in good shape, ut needs a good restoration. The floor pan is in good shape, o signs of any major rust, here is a hole over on the passenger side, hat looks like it got punctured with something, ut not rusty. All the inner supports look good on the floors, nd inner tubes etc, o signs of any major accidents that I can see. Look at the photos, nd you can see pretty much what it needs.

Interior is in okay shape for a driver, ut will need work obviously. The door panels need to be replaced, ome parts are missing obviously. The passenger door only works for the inside, he outside handle is is missing the lever to open it. Dash area is in okay shape, nstruments are there, eside the Speedometer/Odometer, iles are unknown at this time, od is missing, eems someone else wanted it at some point and took it out, o it is missing, o it needs a replacement, ll the wiring behind it looks good though. When you look at the pictures of the interior it needs to be restored, mall rips in seats, o headliner, n general for a driver it is okay, ut you will restore it back to original when the time comes, ut overall basically complete something to start with. The gauges have the typical fog up when it is running, hen there is a lot of moisture in the air. I can say, he speedometer pod, eeds to be covered, ecause when driving it the wind likes to come right in the car. The turn signals are not working currently needs a new turn signal switch. Heater blower does not turn on, ight be switch or motor itself, asy to get to in the engine compartment, lock does not work, uel gauge does not work, he fuel gauge is not in the gas tank, t needs new one. Overall interior gauges and such need looked at and sorted out.

Mechanically as I mentioned before, do not know a lot about it, ever driven it for long periods of time.Until the carbs get rebuilt, he snap, rackle and pop when cold, ets a little better when it warms up but overall need rebuilt. The engine seems like it has decent power, nd revs good besides when the carbs are working and not snapping, o signs of blue smoke, r burning of oil, ctually runs pretty clean. You will want to do a lot of sorting out to get it back to daily driver, as lots of oil seepage, ot sure where it is coming from. I don't mean to make it sound like it drips oil all over over, ust a few drips ever once in a while, ut it has plenty of oil residue in the engine compartment, nd on gaskets etc. These engines are easy to work on, o a good sorting will be good. Also you will notice original induction system is not on the car, oing back to original will be good for this car since it appears to be original engine and gearbox. The transmission seems to shift good, oes not pop out of gear, o clutch chatter, hifts nice and smooth, nd is a 5spd manual. The brakes work decent and stop the car nice and straight. I do notice if you push the car when it is not running, he brakes hang up a little bit and makes it hard to push, ore so in reverse, bviously you don't notice this when driving. Overall mechanically it has some needs, ut overall things seem to be in good repair, ust getting it to run decent again, ith the carbs rebuilt will be a good start then go from there.
