1973 Porsche 911T “Full Metal Turbo Widebody! 77 911S 2.7 Engine!”
VIN 9113100728
The Classic Car Gallery is proud to offering this unique 1973 Porsche 911T. Once a standard, unroof delete 1973 911T was “front dated” and turned into a Porsche Hot Rod with a later mid 1980’s turbo look. Utilizing full front and rear steel body Turbo fender flares, fuel injected 2.7 liter out of a 1977 911S and a full turbo tail, his car gives the complete Porsche Hot Rod experience. We have sold more than 100 911 Porsches, nd have rarely had the fun and pure driving joy that we get out of this car; this point cannot be overemphasized. Everyone who has driven this car has come away with the similar feeling. The car is very well sorted, ight and rattle free, nd with a high power to weight ratio, he is a blast to toss around! The suspension is compliant and not harsh; a trait not shared with many modified Porsches. The car is mechanically excellent and would need little to make into a fun track toy, fun daily driver or perhaps be used as a great starting point for an RSR project, r left alone as a fun daily driver. We have thoroughly inspected the car; it is safe, eliable and legal for road use.
The car presents well. The guards red paint (originally Sepia Brown) while not perfect, ooks good and has good depth and shine. The car’s original color is evident in the engine compartment, ut not elsewhere. The overall condition of the red paint is good, ut there are some minor scuffs and scratches that are to be expected of a vehicle of this age. The Steel wide body conversion was well done but there is a bit of cracking in the paint on the rear driver’s side flare has a small crack at the top where the fender and body meet. It is fitted with a Turbo style “Whale-Tail” rear decklid to complete the vintage 930 turbo look. Paint is consistent through the door jams and one would have to do look very hard to find evidence of the color change. All floorpans are solid with the exception of a soft spot under the rear passenger footwell. The black center Fuchs are in good shape with some minor pitting and are shod with brand new tires. The interior was taken from a mid 80’s car, nd shows some wear throughout but is overall in good condition with no major blemishes. The front electric/manual sport seats are in good shape. The seat electrical functions are not connected but could be if desired. The radio works well and the electric antenna functions properly. The dash is clean and free of any cracks the defroster trim was enlarged with neatly drilled holes for additional airflow. The emergency brake works well and was just recently adjusted. All control systems work as they should, ncluding brakes, linkers and lights. The horn does not work. The Momo wheel looks and feels very good. She just got a new Interstate battery and cold starts are a breeze. The lower HVAC controls operate the fan for the A/C blower but the upper fan controls are inoperable.
The 1977 fuel injected 2.7L produces good power and torque throughout the entire RPM band. This larger motor makes this light car a blast to drive and feels right at home in the vintage 1973 chassis. The 5-speed 915 porsche transmission shifts well through all the gears and the synchros are good. A pair of glasspack mufflers poke out of the back and give the 2.7L a throaty growl and an aggressive wail at wide open throttle. The heater boxes are present but they are not plumbed into the car. An A/C condenser and A/C compressor are present in the engine bay but the system itself is currently inoperable. With some tinkering it would be possible to get the HVAC systems running as the majority of hardware is there. The car just received new tires and an alignment; it tracks straight and true. The stock Porsche suspension feels fresh and tight; around corners and over bumps the car does not have any audible clunks, queaks or rattles.
We have bought, riven and sold hundreds of Porsche 911s. This particular car has a certain quality that brings a smile to1 everyone who has had the chance to drive it. For whatever reason, he combination of the lightweight 1973 911T chassis, 977 2.7 motor and the modified widebody make this car particularly fun to drive. Whether you are looking for a fun driver Porsche, r the basis for a project, his car fits the bill. Feel free to call or email Steven@classiccargallery.com if we can answer any of your questions.
