Offered for sale is an exceptionally clean, xtremely original, 6k original mile 1983 Porsche 911SC Cabriolet finished in desirable factory original Black paint over a Black leather interior. 1983 marked Porsche’s first year for the 911 Cabriolet and the first year the marque had offered any cabriolet model since the 356 in 1965. Despite having been driven sparingly throughout its 32 years of service, his gorgeous example has always been well cared for, araged and used only in favorable weather, xhibiting no evidence of rust or rust repair with an entirely original undercarriage. Truly a pleasure to drive, t starts right up (without any smoke), ulls strongly and smoothly through each gear and shifts crisply. There are no shudders or vibrations and no inconsistencies in compression. The brakes are precise and the car stops as straight as it drives. Living up to Porsche’s legendary handling, he car is joy in the canyons and it always feels torquey and precise.
The drive train is completely original and the car has benefited from recent service including new synthetic oil, ll new filters, ew distributor cap and rotor, ew spark plugs and ignition wires and new front hood and new rear decklid struts. Prior to our acquisition, he car had a complete professional inspection confirming that the engine (including its cylinder head bolts/studs and timing chain tensioners) is in excellent, eak-free condition and that the transaxle, rakes and other systems are all in good shape.
Having never been in any accidents, he car’s desirable Black finish is entirely original (with the exception of the front valence) and in fantastic shape: deep, ustrous and marred only by nearly negligible imperfections consistent with any low mileage car. Allow me stress that these imperfections are exceedingly minor – they don’t show up in the pictures and in no way interfere with the car’s overall appeal. All of the panel fits and gaps are factory consistent, the glass and rubber are in great shape and the original Fuchs 16” wheels are unmarked and wrapped in new Pirelli Cinturato P7 tires.
The interior is equally as clean. The front seats show only the most minimal of wear, he back seats are untouched and the carpets and interior panels are in excellent condition. The leather wrapped dash has no cracks, howing only customary warping, nd the convertible top, ear plastic window and boot cover are all in good condition. The headlamps have been converted to H4s, ut the original chrome headlamp covers and headlamps are included in the sale, long with a number of new parts. Also included are the car’s original manual and accompanying literature, s well as a clear CARFAX report.
Intended to extend the 911 line through its planned cessation in 1981, he 911SC was introduced in 1978 with only slight aesthetic changes to the 911’s previous incarnation. That said, nder the hood it was much different, porting the 3.0L engine upon which Porsche would build its “bulletproof” reputation for reliability. The 911SC was the most tractable and civilized 911 ever, ut that’s not to say that it gave up any performance, ocketing from 0-60 mph in 6.7 seconds, imes comparable to 911 variants all the way through the 1990’s. In fact, he 911SC was so popular with the public and so successful for Porsche, hat they scrapped their plans of ending the 911 model line, nd consequently many Porsche enthusiasts regard the SC as the savior of the iconic model and, y extension, he company.
At 32 years old, his 911SC offers the best of both worlds: an appreciating collector quality car that is still modern enough to drive comfortably and reliably. With only 36k miles, his “bulletproof” 3.0L engine is sure to provide further another thirty plus years of trusty service. If you’ve been looking for an exceptionally clean, ow mileage, ust-free, riginal paint 911SC, this first year cabriolet deserves your serious consideration.
