Description

Owned by a US Air Force pilot while stationed in Italy. He brought the car home to the southern US in 1988. While in Italy, it was set up to Rally with Rally cibie lights, co-pilot navigation light, S-steel front spoiler and duel-exhaust. Also, installed beautiful, Italian soft red leather interior and a rear soft window. (Original rear glass and trim go with).
Once in the US, he used it as a sunny-day driver until he became too ill to drive. He then sold it to another Air Force pilot who stored it in his airport hangar along with his 2 other vintage Porsches and 2 vintage airplanes. This gentleman owned it for 14 years until he too became to ill to continuing driving, at which time he sold the car to me. He said that he probably put 500 miles on it in the time he owned it.
After sitting for nearly 26 years with very little use, it needed refreshing. In my possession, we did the following; drained and cleaned the fuel tank, installed new batteries, fuel hoses, ignition control, rotor, plug wires, engine seals, gaskets, chain tensioners, checked everything in the engine and cleaned it and installed new sound pad.
We rebuilt the shifter and transmission. We replaced synchro teeth and rings for first and second gear and installed new clutch disk.
Original 6 inch deep fuchs matching dated 1970, refinished by Al Reed. New Pirelli P 6000 tires and turbo tie rods and alignment. All work performed by Gold Meister Porsche Shop.
Excellent Concour quality bare metal paint job in "pastel blue". All new Porsche gaskets and seals. The body was solid with very little rust, it was and is a very solid, dry 911. Jack points and rockers are solid. We did install new outer rockers and door skins (original Porsche parts). They were a bit scuffed, perhaps from its' rally days. New Italian lenses. Excellent gaps, precision workmanship. All materials supplied by Stoddards.
Comes with invoices and receipts totaling over $30,000 for the above work.
We left the interior as is because it is so nice. The dash has a small crack, but it also has a notch for the co-pilot light that we thought was just too cool to remove. I'm not sure that the vinyl targa top is German vinyl and the interior targa bar could use recovering. All in all, the interior is quite nice as is, it's just not perfect.
This 911 pulls all the way to red line! Drives great, sounds great and looks great! It is a gorgeous 911! We would love to see this car get to an owner who will appreciate it and show it off!
