Description

1968 Porsche 912. This is a project car I picked up in 2005. At that time the car was at 100% mechanical and electrical function. The car was stripped to put in a new floor pan. At that time I ran out of time to complete the project and it has been garage kept ever since. The car was driven from Annapolis MD to Fredericksburg VA and did a wonderful job. Throughout 2005-2006. I would drive the car as is around my neighborhood once a week and never had an issue with starting or performance. Really the engine was in quite good shape. Webers are installed. The engine mounts have started to stretch and they will need to be corrected. THIS IS A PROJECT CAR. Please only bid if you are serious on restoring this car or need a honey car for parts. This car will need at least new from suspension pan. rear longitude supports. engine mount replacement. glass as the major items. Car is presented as is in the photos. please inquire for any other information or pictures. Engine: Ran great during 2005-2006 weekly drives. has been garage kept since. Was started to idle 2006-2010 every now and then. Included is an unused Bostch generator. Coil is new and so is distributor. Electrical: All electrical components were functionally tested and working in 2006. Exception- the ignition function with the stock key to put the car in the ON position- a switch was on the car to fire the ignition. I never did inspect the ignition module to see why the previous owner had done this and I am not sure if the ignition module is faulty for the start postion- it is just a simple switch though (in the ignition module). I have learned since then that repairing these ignition modules is not a difficult task given the condition this one is in (Key functions through OFF and ON and free movement can be had to the START position. which will spring back to the ON position- may just be a contact). Included are the stock headlights and signals. as well as a few extra units for rebuilds. CHROME: Major chrome and aluminum pieces were kept inside my house. Items included as pictured. FULL WINDOW CHROME FRAMES. BOTH SIDES DOOR CHROME TRIME. BOTH SIDES REAR QUARTER CHROME. BOTH SIDES READ QUARTER CHROME POP OUT WINDOWS. DRIVER SIDE MIRROR. ORIGINAL ALUMINUM REAR DECK VENT (this thing is hard to find and in great shape)Interior: See photos. 1976 911 Sport seat is in place. Main hard dash is in good shape. Secondary Dash (which was cardboard wrapped leather insert) does not exist- can be remade very easy. Transmission- Functioned well in 2005. Body: All hinges and pulls on the car are rust free and function very well. The hood and doors are largly ok but could use either a few repair patches (small rust areas on bottoms of doors. hood has a large scratch that needs attention. Brakes: fully functional in 2005. Calipers are a bit sluggish from rust. The car will need to be worked out of the garage. Not included: Front/Rear/Side windows and cranks. Stock interiorWINNER will need to provide full payment and pick up of the vehicle in ONE WEEK from the end of auction. Car is currently located at my residence in Baltimore CITY. WINNER will need a wrecker or full car carry trailer and must have a driver capable and willing to back down a 150 yard alley. I have done this myself a few times. not so bad. but an experienced driver is needed. PAYMENT must be made in person with a cashiers check or UPSPS money orders in the full amount. Check must be from a reputable national back. Valid photo ID of WINNER must be presented at time of sale/pick up. Valid Title and bill of sale will be presented. ALL THAT BEING SAID- this was a great project of mine that I had hoped to complete but was unable to. The reason I bought this car in the first place is the engine was just excellent for a 68. With some time and effort this could be a great card. Transmissions shifts very well. Car is sold as is. No expressed or implied warranties. Please email and ask for any additional info. Title of the car has it listed as a 1969 however this car body and vin number/engine are very much a 1968 and I am not sure at what point the title was mistakenly stated. This information can be cleared up with the VIN number look up from the 912 registry. On Apr-17-15 at 12:52:57 PDT. seller added the following information:UPDATE: TO NOTE. In the pictures. if you are used to reviewing porsches. you will have noticed there is no front bumper. I did not intend to ommit this information although I have realized that I do not have a direct photo which shows this. only other side photos which would be evident that the front bumper was not thereOn Apr-19-15 at 07:59:51 PDT. seller added the following information:UPDATE 4/19- MUST BE READ BY ALL CURRENT AND POTENTIAL BIDDERS>>>>>>On reviewing the new title that was issued. I observed that the Odometer reading on the Title is listed as 184. 00. I am not certain how the DMV has this reading as the current odometer reads 74k. If the actual odometer was anywhere near this when I purchased the car. I would expect the current odometer would be reading somethere shortly north of 84k (when I purchased the car I drove it 150 miles to my house and then drove it approximately 200 miles over the course of two years for short "keep it running" miles. THE ONLY EXPLANATION I HAVE FOR THIS IS EITHER a. ) The DMV has incorrectly listed this b. ) somehow the odometer rolled from 8 to 7- THE TACHOMETER AND ODOMETER have not bee touch. adjusted or moved since I bought the car and no one has had any access to this car other than me. There is no way any manual intervention could have caused this change. To all current bidder. if you wish to withdraw your bid due to this information please let me know. This information does not impact any of my other statements. Given the interaction I have had with the Virginia DMV. these errors seem to be prone in any of their old systems. On Apr-21-15 at 04:03:27 PDT. seller added the following information:PAYPAL PAYMENT OPTION. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO USE PAYPAL. THE FULL AMOUNT PLUS 4% IS DUE WITHIN 24 HOURS OF AUCTION CLOSE. IN THIS CASE. YOU THEN HAVE 2 WEEKS TO PICK UP THE CAR. MANY POTENTIAL BIDDERS HAVE REQUESTED THIS OPTION.
