Description

If you are looking at this listing then you know the 944 is one of the best cars ever made. The S2 models are the best of the 944s. No turbo and one of the strongest 4 cylinder engines ever built not to mention that it is the largest 4 cylinder made. I love the fact that the engine leans to the passenger side offsetting the driver’s weight. This is my second 944. After cutting my teeth on an 87 I started on this one. It is a daily driver. I had a nice 87 but this S2 had the best color combo and options available. I went through the engine changing the water pump. all the rollers. timing belt. balance shaft belt and the chain guides. Then I started on the front end changing out sway bar bushings. control arm bushings and such. Installed new motor mounts. I then went into the interior and changed the sagging sun visors. the hinges for the sun roof and the seats. The seats are full power on the driver’s side and 1/2 power on the passenger side. There are no rips. The interior is in great shape. The dash has 1 small crack and some small warping near the defrost vents. One of the best dashboards I have seen. There is a seris radio. I have been driving the car in the last 2 summers I have owned it. The brakes were rebuilt just before I bought it and work perfect with good rotors and pads. I changed the brake fluid anyway. The clutch is in great shape and has lots of life left measuring almost new by checking the distance on the clutch slave cylinder drive rod. The shocks are in good shape. Now for the drive train. The torque tube needs changing; the trans shifts clunky and the axle shafts need new boots. I have collected all the parts needed to fix this. I bought a turbo torque tube and had it rebuilt by Constine in Florida. It has had all the bearings changed out with his super bearings and the torque tube was powder coated. I sourced a stock trans from an S2 with 60. 00 miles. I have axle shafts with good constant velocity joints and rubber boots. I also have a newer good trans mount and trans coupling. The body has small dents here and there from 25 years of use. I kind of like it as it is and had no plans to paint it. I changed out any light lenses that need changing. The driving lights are no longer available and are very expensive. I know one of them has a crack and maybe both. I have un-cracked good ones I never put in as the other ones work fine and I like having spares. The car came with 18 inch rims and tires. Looks cool but I prefer 16 inch tires and phone dials. Both sets are staggered. The car comes with both. The owner before me put on an exhaust that is loud and goes blat when you put down the gas pedal. I hate it but have been driving with that exhaust on as it will need to come off when the torque tube is changed. I have the stock exhaust to put on when the torque tube and transmission are changed. The car comes with all of the above and the full shop manual to boot. The rear windshield wiper works and so does the remote hatch latch. AC does not work. I am sure there are things I missed but you get the picture. There is an extra starting motor and alternator and various other parts. You can buy one hell of a car that starts right up and idles perfect. Burns no oil revs cleanly while pulling strong to the red line. I have driven no other car that drives down the road like the 944 and the S2 is the best 944 made. No turbo lag. dossal in every day driving and quicker than the turbo 944s under 100 MPH. It is one of the cars on my bucket list ever since driving a 944 Turbo in 1986. You are probably asking why is he selling it? Life changes have changed what I want to do with my free time and I am annoyed that I do not have the time to finish it. I do not need to sell it but would like someone like me to enjoy it. If you are under 21 and think this is a great car it is. I will not sell it to you. This car will hold its value or increase in value. Thanks for looking. PS; Great oil pressure.
