1985 Porsche 911 Carrera M491 Turbo-Look Cabriolet

Very rare M491 Turbo-Look Cabriolet! Said to be one of only 133 built for 1985! Classic lines all original and freshly serviced; this 911 is ready to go!

By the 1980s the Porsche 911 had established itself as one of the world’s premier street cars on behalf of its racing successes. To further advance its credentials Porsche replaced the venerable SC models with the Carrera 3.2 in 1984. Since the 930 Turbo had been discontinued in the US since 1980 Porsche sought to develop a car that had all of the suspension and cosmetic goodies from the Turbo but with the already regulated engine. The M491 option code denoting the “Turbo-Look” option costing around $12000 included the following Turbo options: whale tail chin spoiler widened fenders suspension 12” brakes and widened wheels. The M491 coupe was available from 1984 with the convertible and Targa joining a year later. Production lasted until 1989 and a total of 1852 cars were built in the combined three body styles. Their rarity has made them especially collectible in the bustling Porsche market today!

We are very excited to offer this 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera M491 Turbo-Look Cabriolet! The car is finished in the ’85-86 only color of S6 – White Gold Metallic over VL – Brown leather interior with matching Brown convertible top. Per our Porsche Certificate of Authenticity we can confidently verify that the car is powered by its original 3.2L Carrera Flat 6 engine and 915 5-speed manual transmission. Options on our particular car are plentiful starting with the M491 Turbo-Look package (costing $11700) US standard emissions equipment Blaupunkt Monterey Radio central locking system cruise control and Dunlop tires on matching White Gold Metallic painted forged Turbo wheels with Porsche crest center caps.

The previous owner purchased the car on 9/29/93 from Willhoit Enterprises in Springfield Missouri. At that time the car was reported as having 35032 miles. Over the next 22 years this owner only contributed a little over 9000 miles to its current CARFAX documented total of 44539. The car wears its original trunk option code sticker paint and trim original date-coded spare with tire tool kit and Porsche plastic bag with only deviations from stock being a Momo shift knob and a Borla stainless steel exhaust system. The car is cosmetically outstanding runs beautifully and comes with a stack of documentation from the previous owner a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and a fresh service include AC and synthetic oil.
