With a continuous production run of nearly 50 years, he Porsche 911 has developed, volved, vaded execution, atured and has been transformed in a style that no other automobile has ever experienced. It is an industry phenomenon, nd the fascination with this evergreen sports is still capturing new fans today as much as it did after its launch in 1963.
It's not often the early history of these fantastic cars is known from new, ut fortunately the story of 9113300928 starts years before it was ever born. While attending college, avid Ostrom had a math professor who drove a 1969 orange 911S which David always admired. Though owning several British sports cars, e always wanted a 911S. A few years later while enlisted in the military, r. Ostrom was transferred to West Germany, nd had finally saved up enough money to purchase an S. In January 1973, e went to Hans Sports Car Center in Stuttgart to order a U.S. specification coupe in Sepia Brown over Cinnamon leatherette, ptioned with Koni shocks, anual antenna, oudspeaker/noise suppression, ir conditioner with crash bin and Pirelli tires. A Blaupunkt radio was later installed at a local Porsche shop, s were the driving lamps for Autobahn cruising. The car spent several more years in Europe and on vacation trips to Holland, elgium, rance and Italy (photographed), hile always serviced at the factory. It even attended Porsche driving school and gymkhanas.
In 1983, he 911 was sold to a Mr. Smith in Newport News, irginia, s Mr. Ostrom was headed back to Germany. In the 1990's it made its way to Los Angeles, apan, ack to California, orth Carolina and Finally Beverly Hills - with ownership largely recorded along the way. During its previous ownership, he car was enjoyed as intended. Driven approximately 1,000 miles every year between 2007 and 2015, ith trips to Lake Tahoe, aguna Seca, egular Sunday drives and displayed at the Greystone Concours, an Marino Concours, odeo Drive Show, ana Point Concours, nd local PCA events. The S received a complete ground up restoration many years ago to its current configuration of White over Black leatherette sport seats with houndstooth inserts and although the cosmetics have aged it still shows very nice as a "driver". The S also retains its original matching engine, ools, wner's manual and pouch, eproduction US Forces in Germany plates, nd regular service records from Otto's in Venice and Swiss Motors in Culver City over the past 10 years.
Equipped with the desired 2.4-liter flat-six "Super" engine, his outstanding purpose built Porsche exudes a very honest character with a great early story to its name; here is an excellent opportunity to acquire a beautiful and good driving example.
