The Porsche 356 was the company's first production automobile. It was a lightweight and nimble handling rear-engine rear-wheel-drive 2 door sports car, vailable in hardtop and convertible configurations. Design innovations continued during the years of manufacture, ontributing to its motorsports success and popularity, roduction ended in April of 1965.
Offered here is an exemplary example of Porsche's 356B Cabriolet in a rarely seen factory color of Champagne yellow and loaded with rare options. Completed on the 19th of September 1962, 57310 was purchased new at Pon's Porsche Import of Holland (famous as the first Porsche importer in the world), n September 28, 962, ptioned to a T with complete LEATHER upholstery for cabriolet, quipment such as ARMREST, EATHER HEADREST with fittings, UTSIDE MIRROR, NSIDE ANTI-GLARE MIRROR, LOOR MATS, afety belts, ELUXE HORN RING travelling kit, ouch-up paint dispenser, brown luggage straps for luggage space, ecker Europa radio with 2 loudspeakers and antenna, ack, pare wheel, ool case and cover for cabriolet. M.A, asinger of Denver, olorado took delivery of his Porsche at the dealership, here it would receive its first inspection and lubrication before being brought back to Colorado with him. An original service book for the car shows additional receipts for later servicings at Jesse Boyce Motors of Grand Junction, olorado. Other original booklets to this car include a May 1962 Porsche accessories price-list with individual options circled and its 1962 edition Driver's Manual in plastic sleeve.
Throughout the better portion of 1992, complete nut-and-bolt restoration was commissioned for "Buttercup" to its current presentation by restorer Gary Balzer of Hanford, alifornia. The car wears correct Champagne Yellow paint as confirmed by Porsche factory Kardex and Certificate of Authenticity, ver beige leather upholstery, tunning brightwork and 5/62 date stamped wheels. A dossier of invoices documenting the work performed is included with the sale. As a former Porsche Parade and multiple concours participant, he cabriolet continues to present today as a remarkable car for a most discerning purist. This longtime PCA participant is further accessorized with yellow Hella fog lamps, eitz luggage rack with leather ski straps, uggage straps and 3-piece period luggage set, atching boot cover, pare wheel with leather strap, alico coco mats, eriod tools, ack and accessories. The service and history file also contains several high scoring judging sheets from its concour days in the 1990's.
Just recently acquired from a respected Porsche collection in Texas this great 356 has recently received a thorough detailing and mechanical freshening. Now ready for enjoynment "Buttercup" is guaranteed to garner quite a bit of attention among enthusiasts whether on a tour or concours field alike.
