Description

A beautifully clean version of this classic Rolls Royce 20/25. Vehicle runs and drives beautifully. Right hand drive. 4 speed manual transmission. This vehicle model was manufactured between 1929 and 1936. 3827 were manufactured. Over time and wars, it is unknown how many of these vehicles still exist. This same vehicle was used in Indiana Jones and the last Crusade, and the 1983 version of from Here to Eternity! Includes some fascinating documentation, including original sales receipt, letters between attorney's and a mistaken owner, and other assorted documentation that speak to the provenance of the vehicle.

6 cylinder in-line engine, monobloc cylinder block; bore x stroke 3 1/4 x 4 1/2 in, capacity 3,669 cc; push-rod operated valves located in detachable cylinder head; aluminium alloy crankcase, coil ignition with stand-by magneto; dry plate type clutch; 4 speed gearbox in unit with engine (from 1932 synchromesh on 3rd and 4th gear); spiral bevel final drive; 4-wheel brakes servo-assisted; wheelbase 3,276.6 mm (129 in) (from 1930 wheelbase 3,352.8 mm (132 in);tiresize 6.00 x 19)

The in-line 6-cylinder overhead-valve20/25hpengine was similar to that used in the 20hp but was enlarged to 3,669cc (223.9cuin) by increasing the bore from 76mm to 82mm, with the stroke remaining at 114mm. A single Rolls-Royce carburetor was used, and both coil and magneto ignition were fitted. The four-speed gearbox was mounted in unit with the engine and a traditional right-hand change used.Synchromeshwas fitted to third and top gears from 1932.

The substantial chassis had rigid front and rear axles suspended by half-elliptic springs with braking on all four wheels assisted by a mechanical servo. Separate rear brakes were fitted for the handbrake. The famous Rolls-Royce radiator with triangular top was used with vertical louvres, the angle of which could be adjusted to control engine cooling. To begin with, the radiator shutters were operated manually via a lever on the dash; later cars were fitted with automatic control via a thermostat.
