Description
1934 Studebaker Dictator Fantastic Deep Blue Studebaker Dictator! Very rare and attractive 4-door! A well-thought alternative to a ’34 Ford! Fully restored and ready to go! The Studebaker Dictator replaced the Standard Six in 1928 as the brand’s entry level sedan. It was offered in a myriad of configurations and was said to be named because it “dictated the standard” for all automobiles in its price category. The car got continuously bigger and better and by the early 30s. it was a very attractive alternative to the iconic early Fords. In particular. the ’34 Dictator had front suicide doors and sleek lines that were able to draw attention from the big three and ultimately sell almost 46. 00 cars! We are very excited to offer this 1934 Studebaker Dictator Sedan! Finished in a beautiful shade of medium blue. this car is accentuated with a brown mohair interior and full simulated wood throughout the cabin! The 1934 Dictator had a base price of $845 and in addition to the standard 88 horsepower 205ci Inline 6 and 3-speed manual transmission. this car is graciously fitted with a host of other options including Studebaker Tropic-aire heater. bumper guards. rearview and driver side-view mirror. tilt-out windshield. sun visors. “Studebaker” pedal pads. kick plates. rear foot rest and grab handles. dome light. pop out rear windows. rear pillows and a rear-mount wheel and cover. The car has an incredibly handsome interior and dash layout; the large speedometer is flanked by four smaller gauges that indicate oil pressure. amperage. fuel level and water temperature. The back seat is a very comfortable place to be. despite not having the room of a larger car. This Dictator comes with its original namesake plaque on the dash. as well as an original “Operation & Care” booklet. The engine presentation is fantastic. with gloss and semi-gloss finishes everywhere they should be and crowned with an original Burgess air cleaner. The car is surviving out of an Indiana collection and shows very well today. While not a show piece. the car was the recipient of a frame-off restoration about 7 years ago. The paint and chrome. as well as motor and various hard-to-find suspension bits were all replaced; the car drives exceptionally well and is not hesitant to cruise in the 55-60 mph speed range. The odometer shows just under 1000 miles since the restoration was completed. The car traveled around the Indiana show circuit with the previous owner and was not unfamiliar with receiving awards in both show and timed road rally events. During its time here. it has been exceptionally easy to start and drive and all components arguably work better than new. thanks in part to the modern technologies and clearances that went into the restoration. Today. this Dictator is an essential piece of history for Studebaker enthusiasts or those fanatics looking for something a little more unique than a Ford or Chevrolet. We would be happy to answer any additional questions on the Dictator…please don’t hesitate to ask! Thanks for looking!
