Description

The roots of Studebaker go all the way back to the carriage when they were one of the nation’s largest builders of horse-pulled vehicles.

By 1920 Studebaker had become the nation’s fourth largest car builder and they also built their last horse drawn carriage that year. Studebaker was now a firmly established marque that would go on to build cars for many more decades.

Offered here is a tidy example of the early years for Studebaker, 1921 Light Six Touring car finished in garnet red with black fenders. The Light Six was an all-new design for Studebaker with a square opening in the color keyed radiator shell and a Studebaker badge on top. This one rides on wood spoke artillery wheels complete with white wall tires. The interior is finished in black leather and rear seating is comfortable with its original footrest. Power comes from a 207 cubic-inch inline six that offers 40 horsepower. This Studebaker was cosmetically and mechanically restored some years ago and has since held up very well.

The paint is nice and shiny and has several blemishes and minor checking indicating an older repaint. The interior is for the most part original with nice original leather on the seats and its original wooden steering wheel. The running boards are original and show a lot of cracking but arecompletelysolid.

The engine bay is original with minor grime and grease present. The car starts and runs well with a little loading up when warming up. It does not burn oil but drips a small amount. The transmission shifts well and the clutch and brakes are well serviced and function nicely.

There is no rust or rust repair anywhere on the car. It is a remarkably clean example that is ready to be toured and enjoyed. While not a show car, t is perfectly ready for parades and enjoyment by its next owner.

Please note that I removed the rear mounted spare to take these photos and show how clean the car was underneath. I do have the spare with its cover with the car. The car is located in Connecticut. I invite any interested party to come have a look. It starts easily and runs well.

Good luck and happy bidding.

A couplequestionshave been asked about the top and lack of bumpers.

The top is either original and very old and shabby canvas. If someone click Buy it Now, will put on a brand new correct style canvas top no charge.

I was also asked by a few about bumpers. The car does not have bumpers. I am told they were an accessory but have no idea if that is the case. Thanks again for bidding.
