Description

1984 BJ60 Toyota Landcruiser: 4X4, B Diesel, 55 5 speed manual. VIN # JT3BJ60G5E0013103. This has been my daily driver for the last six years, nd I have the Alabama title and current registration in hand.
This is the 3B/ H55 configuration—bullet proof and capable of over 500,000 miles before any serious repairs are needed. Note: it is not the inline 6 diesel (that would be the HJ60 model, Bay).
Of course, s most of you probably know, hese diesel trucks were never imported to the United States because of the acid rain related legal restrictions put into place in the early 1980s. They went to Canada and the rest of the world and the US got the slightly inferior gas configuration. Our loss. Landcruiser fanatics seek these trucks as they are or in order to convert a gas model to diesel .
About this truck:
This truck came off the Japanese assembly line in March of 1984 and was imported to Canada, here it spent the first 25 years of its life. I bought it in October of 2009 from a gentleman in Montreal; I drove it from Montreal to Jackson, N the following two days, egistering it in Alabama. When I moved to New York, brought it with me.
In the intervening six years, have replaced several things—cooling system (Sept. 2011), tarter (April 2012), rakes (Dec 2013), ires (Nov. 2014), xhaust (Dec. 2014), lutch (Jan 2015)—but I haven’t had to do anything to the drive train. It has effective glow plugs and a block heater, o it starts EVERY SINGLE TIME, ven in subzero temps. I got tired of replacing rusted, usted mufflers, o I had my mechanic run a straight pipe on it. It's loud. You won't be sneaking up on anyone in this truck.
The speedometer reads 377,000 km (237,635 mi), ut it stopped working about three years ago. I would estimate that I have put maybe 30,000 more km on it since then. It has probably 254,375mi on it now. I generally use it most during hunting season--I drive my FJ 40 in the summer. You could get 200,000 more miles out of this engine/ transmission before needing to rebuild it. Or you could rebuild the engine, dd a turbo and a grease burning kit and drive around for free. Even with the bigger Bridgestone A/Ts, t gets between 18 and 22 MPG. Simply put, t’s a great, ependable truck.
So you’ll ask: “if it’s so great, hy are you selling it?” Like so many Toyotas, t suffers from body rot. From 1990-2004, n Canada, t was religiously undercoated (the stickers on the driver’s door prove this). When I bought it, coated the lower exterior, he roof, nd all of the interior floor surfaces with Rhino Lining in 2010 and that gave it a little more life. Nevertheless, he stupid New York habit of salting the roads has done its damage. The truck probably has another 2 years of body left, ut the lower body and the back of the frame is in pretty rough shape as you will note from the pictures. I had to rip the back bumper off so it would not fall off and cause a wreck. It makes me sick to think about, ut it's far gone enough for me to not sink more money into it.
You can purchase a 3B engine from Specter Off-Road for $7600 and a H55 for $4900, efore shipping. With this truck, ou get both of those things, lus the transfer case, he brand new clutch, tc., oth axles, he entire fuel system, ooling system, he wiring harness, nd a bunch of non-rusted body parts--for less money--not to mention the fact that if you live in a place where they don't salt the roads, ou could probably get another couple years out of it AS IS. And you can drive it home, ven if home is in California—yes, would not hesitate to drive it across the country—I’ve already done it once. Or, f you are less adventurous, -Ship or other companies can get it to your door for around $1000.
My bid-starting price is $3900. I will entertain all REASONABLE offers; email me for pics and other info. Thanks!
