Bought off craigslist in July 2011 with 188,337 miles. Seller misrepresented it. He purchased it from a Colorado restoration shop in 2006. For my purchase, eller sent five (5) year old pics (from when he purchased) and never told me otherwise. I bought it over the phone and had it shipped. Since I am an extremely novice restorer, was looking for a “buy and drive” FJ and never realized it would be the project that it became. The main positive was, ther than some surface rust on frame, he vehicle was virtually rust free (one of previous owners rhino lined parts of frame and undercarriage). According to previous owner, olorado shop cut out and installed new front floor pans and rear quarter panels.
Since my ownership:

In four (4) years, have put ~1,900 miles on it. I have put a ton of work into this vehicle and absolutely love it – lots of personal fulfillment. The only reason I am selling it is due to bad back that has recently gotten worse and the vehicle is too rough for me to enjoy anymore. I planned to change the shocks (instead painted them and add-on steering stabilizer), ut decided not to thinking a new owner may want to install a lift and/or new tires.
Note: Frame has some surface rust; when mechanic replaced intake manifold gaskets, e broke a bolt below carburetor (he didn’t claim it); and front hubs leak small amount of gear oil. All original parts removed and then replaced are included in sale. Two (2) small rust spots at bottom of passenger door (last photo).
Disclaimer: I am a 100% novice and have never restored a vehicle before. All mechanical, lectrical work, aint and tub Rhino lining was done by professionals. Pictures are of present condition of vehicle (with the exception of pic with hard top (nine (9) years old) – as top is off at this time, ut is included). I cannot attest to any work done by original restorer other than replacement of new front floor pans and rear quarter panels and frame/undercarriage rhino liner.
Vehicle is for sale locally, s well. Therefore, eller reserves the right to end auction at any time.
