Description

For sale is a 1993 Toyota MR-2 5 speed. This car has been in our family since 2001, it was originally mine and then my mother purchased it off of me a few years later. The car has absolutely no rust, it has been garage kept since my mother has had it. This is a super clean car that is in amazing condition, you don’t find them in this condition. This car has had 4 owners in 2 families over it's lifetime. Always properly maintained and serviced.

The 2.2L normally aspirated 4 cylinder (this is a non-turbo car) runs great and has been bullet proof, it is a Toyota after all. The car currently has 119K miles and everything is ready to go. A full tune up, timing belt, and coolant flush were all performed in the last 20K miles. The tires are like new! This car really needs nothing but a new home. Last year the car got a new alternator and new OEM electric power steering motor installed.

Front of car was professionally repainted in 2002, not due to accident damage but stone chips. Hood, headlight doors, bumper cover, and fenders were painted by high end body shop in my area. Stunning paint work but does have some stone chips here and there again 16 years later. Car looks absolutely amazing overall, especially for an almost 25 year old car. This car gets compliments and remarks everywhere.

A/C has been retrofitted to R134a and blows cold. Car has Power Locks, windows, mirrors, cruise control, etc. This MR2 also has the T-bar sport roof option.

This particular MR2 comes with many upgrades. A full custom audio system with navigation and subwoofer under the hood. Also has AUX input for music from smartphones. All amplifiers are hidden in a false floor in the rear trunk, super stealthy installation. Car is layered in Dynamat Extreme and is the quietest driving MR2 you will find. No rattles on the interior or exterior, even with the stereo cranked.

Linear Power 952IQ amplifier running rear

Alpine MRV-F301 4 channelamplifier bridged 2 channel on front

Other Upgrades:

Eibach springs

The Mister 2 is becoming a rare and collectible car, especially one this clean. This MR2 in particular is a blast to drive and handles like a go cart on rails. This cars suspension setup is perfectly balanced, predictable, and is amazing on back roads. Suspension has 4 settings for firmness. In the softest setting the car is quite comfortable to drive,, the second setting is a bit more firm but OK for street, the last 2 are track only for sure. The 93 MR2’s came with the 91/92 turbo brakes and a revised suspension set up to fix some pretty spooky handling characteristics. This car doesn't exhibit any of those traits.

Only 2 known defects: The passenger side power mirror does not work in all 4 directions (works up and down, 1 of the 2 motors in the mirror is not working). The only other issue is the power antenna mast (Toyota has the part for around $50), it needs to be replaced if you want the power antenna to go up and down automatically with the radio being turned on and off (works as a manual push down antenna currently but the motor for the antenna still works fine).

The only reason it’s being sold is my mother is getting ready to retire and rarely drives this car any longer (she is 70) as it’s always been a second car for her. This car can reliably be driven anywhere and has no known issues other than the 2 disclosed above.
