Description

If you are into first generation Toyota pickups/Hilux this is the holy grail. An honest solid 1981 Trekker. This was the predecessor to the Fourrunner. Estimates are about 1200 were made 1981-83. Do a google and you will find clubs dedicated to them. The back half is all fiberglass. top is removable. roll bar in rear. Only surface rust on frame (factory paint still in places) and spots of surface rust here and there. some inevitable rust on floor at the usual spot on forward drivers floor. Small welded patch in door jam on passenger side do to the rain gutter emptying on that spot. The track had large wing mirrors and I prefer the small ones so I changed them. the old mounting holes are not rusty but I hit them with black paint that you see to keep them from rusting over winter. I put push plugs in the holes from the mirrors and the cb antenna that is removed. Drives well. but auto choke pulls off a bit quick. fine a few seconds later. A ujoint on front driveshaft is sloppy. Doesn't seem to burn or leak too much oil. 4 wheel drive works well and smooth other than the ujoint as mentioned. Factory suspension. Timing chain replaced about 25k ago. New gas pump and carburetor. Tires are decent. Air works. Has power steering! New windshield. The back seat is complete and overall the interior is pretty darn decent. (pictures show pine needles from Xmas tree. Sorry I didn't clean her out well for photos . but will before buyers takes it home) The radio is gone but speakers are in place. Jack and handle included. The front fenders are new as there were a few scars on both sides and they are easy to change so I did it last fall planning to paint it but ran out of season. now I will leave it up to the new owner. DUAL gas tanks. but I don't really understand how they work. It looks like a factory option and all hoses are in place but sometimes both fill. other times only the rear one. The emissions stuff was yanked but it is all in a box and included. I also have a black rear tube bumper that I never got around to putting on but is included. I also have vinyl graphics that were made to match the factory trekker vinyl in brown/tan that I will include. You will be hard pressed to find a better one in original unmolested though unrestored condition. She isn't showroom by any means but pretty good and pretty complete. I'm selling as I have responsibilities to drive parents around and need easier access seating. On Apr-25-15 at 06:18:22 PDT. seller added the following information: After reading. I should clarify that the rust spot on the passenger sill that has been welded is the result of the TRUCK'S rain gutter sending water down the front of the door seal to that location. Even trucks that spent there whole life in the West often have a spot there. The spot in the driver forward floor that was mentioned is shown in one of the last pictures. The shocks are newer. The exhaust is quiet but aging. needs a tailpipe.
