Description
Due to a recent purchase of a Austin Healey 3000 I am forced to sell my 1979 Triumph Spitfire. The car started its life in California and was imported to Ontario. Canada in the early 1990’s. Since then it has been sparingly used as a summer driver; for that reason the car is remarkably solid & rust free. This Triumph has been lovingly cared for by a British sports car enthusiast & has therefore received all of the required maintenance per the factory schedule on an ongoing basis. The Spitfire was repainted once in its original Brooklands Green color (done in the early 90’s). the paint still looks good but has been touched up in a few spots over the years. the bonnet shows some minor cracking in spots. A new factory style convertible top with zip out rear window was professionally fitted in the summer 2014. The original black vinyl/hounds tooth seats are in great shape (foam in headrests a bit soft) along with the carpet. door panels etc…the dashboard top cap is perfect as well as the wood dash. It is equipped with both the boot & full tonneau covers. factory radio & luggage rack. The car is in excellent mechanical condition given the significant amount of work recently completed under my ownership (see list below). I wouldn’t hesitate to drive it anywhere. The odometer reads 75869 miles and the original engine starts right up. pulls strong and doesn’t burn a drop of oil. Shifting through the gears is smooth and it’s an absolute joy to drive. All the electrics are in perfect working order including the lights. gauges. wipers. etc. Over the past winter. a complete new clutch assembly (Borg & Beck). release bearing & spigot bushing were installed. Other recent work includes: - Clutch slave cylinder - Transmission mounts - Engine mounts - Fuel pump & lines - Brake hydraulics including master cylinder and rear wheel cylinders - Brake light switch - Steering joint - Engine mounts - Window Seals - All fluids - Refurbished wheels & new trim rings The Spitfire has been a wonderful toy during the time I’ve owned it & it is a safe. reliable car that can be driven anywhere. it is not a trailer queen but it presents itself well & drives even better. It needs nothing and is ready for summer cruising. More pictures are available on request. Receipts for work done can be electronically sent for your viewing. I can assist with shipping this vehicle worldwide. Any questions pertaining to the car. please address through email so that I can respond and post on this auction ad. The vehicle is advertized locally. therefore I reserve the right to cancel this auction at any time.
