You are bidding on a 1968 Triumph TR250, ompletely restored to a very high level. This car belongs to my friend Bob…you know, he one who bears a striking resemblance to Tom Selleck. Bob spent a fortune, s you can see from the photos, aking this car into the finest 250 that I have ever seen. The Valencia Blue paint (as original) is as good as it gets, nd the bodywork is impeccable. There are many tasteful upgrades that make this car a Triumph enthusiast’s dream come true. You would be hard pressed to find a more completely restored automobile. In addition to the fantastic paint and body work, he mechanicals are top notch, ith nearly every part rebuilt or replaced with parts from Moss Motors, he Roadster Factory, ood Parts and other well-known vendors.
The brakes are better than new, ith stainless steel braided hoses, rilled and slotted rotors, ew master cylinder and booster, ilicone brake fluid, opper-nickel lines, inned drums, tc. The lighting system (Halogen) has been uprated with a headlight relay harness. A new Die-Hard was installed last week. As you might expect, he fuel lines were replaced, s was the windshield and convertible top. The cozy interior is quite nice, ith new crash-pads, arpet, ftermarket center-console/arm-rest, isors, tc. The USB equipped Retro-Sound radio is powering the head-rest speakers in the oh-so comfortable Miata-sourced seats. A handsome 14 inch Motolita steering wheel complements the all wood dash-board. You are held safely in place by aircraft-style retractable seat-belts. The polyurethane tunnel and Dyna-Mat insulation keep noise to a minimum.
The engine has been rebuilt to better than original with a Richard Good GP2 cam, oller rockers, riple Stromberg carburetor conversion, pin-on oil filter, ertronix Ignitor electronic ignition and more. Naturally this car is very fast, et quite tractable. Oil pressure is strong at all engine temperatures and the compression is 160 PSI on all cylinders. The engine stays cool with a modern thermostatically controlled electric fan powered by a Bosch alternator. The sound of the 2-1/2 liter six, outed through the Jet-Hot coated headers and Falcon stainless steel twin exhaust is exhilarating. The non-original Triumph TR6 all-synchro 4-speed+overdrive transmission was rebuilt by the Roadster Factory and was manufactured in 1972, aking it one of the last of the coveted “A-type” overdrive gearboxes to leave Coventry.
The original frame has been replaced with a more substantial 1976 TR6 chassis that has been upgraded with differential and suspension reinforcement gussets. The suspension features Good-Parts adjustable trailing-arm brackets and Nylatron bushings throughout. The car rides on performance springs with Koni shocks in front and heavy-duty Armstrong dampers in the back. Handling is further enhanced by the 205/65/15 Goodyear Eagles mounted on 7 inch Konig Rewind mag wheels. A new spare is in the boot. The original seats, racks and air-cleaner are available. The front and rear bumpers have never been re-chromed and while very nice, re not up to the high standard of the rest of the car. The fancy and overpriced headlights have developed a haze and one is cracked. I think the hood could be adjusted to fit better. (Sorry, ob)
This Triumph TR250 won’t make you look like Tom Selleck, ut it will certainly make you feel like Magnum PI!
