Classic 1970 Triumph TR6 ready for restoration. Parked in 1999 due to needing a new clutch fork pin (weekly-ish driver during spring/summer/fall from 88-99); stored indoors from 1988 to present except for 6ish months in 2002. Odometer/speedo work, but have no knowledge if it wrapped before I bought it in 1988. Title states miles in 1988 as 153933, but the previous owner claimed it incorrect - DMV yearly registration records could tell you for sure (153K in 18 years is very high for a Triumph, but possible). I put ˜10,000 miles on it from 1988-1999; odometer reads 62834. (All based on status when it was parked): Solid strong original engine, good oil pressure (60psi except when hot, full-hot 20-45psi depending on rpm). No smoke, doesn't burn oil. Well-balanced and rebuilt Stromberg carbs. 4-speed non-overdrive trans in good shape. Clutch fork pin likely cracked reducing clutch throw (very common problem); I could no longer quite disengage it fully, and so parked it in 1999 to wait for time to pull the trans. Front suspension fully rebuilt in 1989-1990. Higher-rated springs installed in front, and Spax gas shocks in good condition. Rear suspension good; shocks in good shape. U-joints replaced in ˜1995-7. Brakes redone, flexible brake hoses replaced in 1990's. Clutch slave rebuilt in ˜1997. Tires were pretty new and hold air well; some cracking visible in-between tread. Convertible top replaced in ˜1995 I think; some rear-window discoloration, may buff out. Top is tight and flexible. Includes top cover in good shape (needs a couple of snaps replaced) and an almost-new tonneau cover with a couple of small holes. Bumpers are undamaged but show pinholing in the chrome. Lots of little things replaced (bump stops, various rubber bits, visors, etc, etc). Interior needs to be redone (racoon got into garage). Will need seats reupholstered, new dashpad, and some new door trim, plus mats/carpets. Rear rugs/etc could be kept or replaced. Previous owner installed Realistic speakers. Seatbelts are lap-only; but included are aftermarket 3-point retractable belts in original boxes for installation. Dashboard in ok shape (not perfect). Ammeter has a crack in the glass. Bonnet release cable frozen; have wire pull set up to release bonnet until replaced. Glass is all good (one minor chip top edge of driver's window); window cranks work. Most rust is minor (see pictures). Frame is solid. Slight rust at top joint behind doors (unchanged since 1988); one small spot on trunk lid. Some alligatoring of paint on trunk lid, driver's door and bonnet. Worst rust is the footwells (typical); some small holes (and also was previously-to-1988 repaired by adding some metal plates). MANY extra parts include: Extra trunk lid (blue/black). Full head with valves and exhaust manifold. Plastic (not cardboard!) new transmission cover. Extra gas tank (appears to be in good shape). Extra set of carbs and manifold. New rear-trailing-arm bushings. New (from mid-90's) inner and outer rocker panels and endcaps; some minor surface rust on the panels. New front spoiler/airscoop. New gasket for under the windshield (to body). New front-behind-wheel metal plate (footwell-to-fender). New top-of-door gaskets to the rollup windows (both sides). Transmission cover gasket and I think retaining hardware (for new plastic cover). Front A-arms (top and bottom), alternator, flywheel and oil pump (unknown condition; many of these were from a buddy who did a full restoration and performance upgrade and ended up with a pile of extra parts and no space). This car is being sold AS ISandNO WARRANTY isexpressed or implied! I have tried to describe this car as accurately as possible. If there is anything that I haven't covered, or if you have any other questions, please feel free to ask. Winning the auction is final; I strongly recommend you examine the car before the auction ends, or get someone to do so for you. The car is in the suburban Philadelphia area near Valley Forge, you will need to arrange transportation. Car must be picked up within 30 days of the end of the sale. |
